Default South African Academy tour of Bangladesh

The National Cricket Academy will test their mettle on the sub-continent when they play the Bangladesh Cricket Academy in a tour consisting of four-day, one-day and T20 matches next month. This is the second of such reciprocal tours between Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and forms part of CSA’s strategy to provide young cricketers the opportunity to experience different playing environments.

“This tour is more about proficiency for the players and we want them to get an understanding of the conditions on the sub-continent and to further develop and grow certain aspects of their game,” commented Anton Ferreira, CSA Coaching Manager.

Bizhub Highveld Lions batsman, Temba Bavuma, was not considered for the tour and Cameron Delport from KwaZulu-Natal and Jerry Nqolo from Border have withdrawn from the Academy due to personal reasons.

National Academy Squad to tour Bangladesh: Patrick Botha, Free State; Cody Chetty, KZN, SA U19 v Sri Lanka and India 2009, and U19 World Cup in New Zealand, 2010; Machant de Lange, Easterns; Dominic Hendricks, Gauteng,  U19 World Cup in New Zealand (Player of the Tournament); Graham Hume, Gauteng, U19 World Cup in New Zealand (Bowler of the Tournament); Tumi Masekela, Northerns; Lefa Mosena, Free State; Dane Paterson, Western Province; Dane Piedt, Western Province; Joshua Richards, Northerns, SA Schools 2009 (capt), and U19 World Cup in New Zealand, 2010 (capt); Christiaan Schoeman, Northerns; Siyabulela Simetu, Western Province, SA Schools, 2009; Romano Terblanche, Free State; Lenert van Wyk, Boland; Hardus Viljoen, Easterns.

Management: Barney Mohamed; Malibongwe Maketa; Craig Govender (physiotherapist).

Fixtures:

16-19 April: 1st Four-Day Match - Dhaka

22-25 April: 2nd Four-Day Match – Chittagong

28 April: 1st One-Day Match – Chittagong

1 May: 2nd One-Day Match – Dhaka

Loads of love going on between Bangladesh and South Africa at the moment.
A team and Academy playing against their counterparts simultaneously.
A test of pipelines.

Not bad, it will be invaluable experience for the Saffers to play in Bangladesh and vice versa when BD academy team visits SA. hope similar arrangements are made with Aus/Eng/Ind etc

good good. didn't we play them last year as well. it would've been better if they played away. we thrashed them by 200 runs last time. i'm hoping to see big performances from our academy boys.

i don't have any problems with us playing ireland or netherland but we should play them at their home ground so that we get more exposure and have a good practice at seam friendly wickets.we just get slaughtered in SA or aussie pitches since their team is so good.it will be very healthy if we play ireland in ireland.i am not sure if we can win back to back mathces against ireland in ireland
