And as you could see from the last dead rubber from that very same bilateral tournament, we ran the Afghans really close. It took our batters 2 matches to figure out at least some plan to play out Rashid and the other Afghan spinners once the intimidating factor was gone and they had played them themselves instead of watching some IPL games or sitting with a computer analyst.

This time it's not gonna be the same coz we have experienced playing against this bowling attack, have a proper coaching unit who have had time during the tour of West Indies to take a better look at their own charges, and not to mention it's not a T-20 but an ODI. I really would love to see the Afghans getting thrashed properly and clinically. But then uncertainty is one of the biggest traits of the game.

But going by logic Afghanistan shouldn't be much of a challenge, even India and SL shouldn't given how many times in the recent times we have played against these two teams. We will have trouble facing Pakistan though coz it's a completely changed and new-look team filled with confident youngsters. On that note, it's about time our younguns started firing for us to go far in this Asia cup
That's true, it depends also on which Bangladesh turns up. This is an unpredictable team, one day they will lose to Hong Kong but the same team can reach the semis of a Champions Trophy in English Conditions and come 2 runs within winning the Asia Cup as well winning series versus South Africa, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies (T20 as well). If the team with right mentality turns up they may also be able to beat India/Pakistan.

^^Sad, but true, it's been more about 3 out of the following 5 (Tamim, Shakib, Rahim, Mash, Riyad) having an off day and then no-one else picking up the work for support. nothing unpredictable about this. I would like to see others contribute in a major way...enough is enough.

I think Bangladesh is again coming together as a good unit. The players would have been working with new coaches for some time so hopefully we might see some decent changes.

Afghanistan wont be a total pushover as they will have their spin attack and this is kind of their home ground. However playing a full 50 overs match is a bit too much to ask of them IMO. Sri Lanka and us will be evenly matched.

We should've gotten one of the qualifiers, and they should've gone into the group of India and Pakistan. Groups are not fair.

So both qualify and there is no hiccups. Marketing, TV rights, sales, MONEY, did I say Money? That is the only reason 1 and 2 are in the same group with 6.

3, 4, 5 are in the second group. Logic is not part of this.

SL is a changed team and under different leadership. They are definitely among the top 4 teams. They always punch above their weight (with the exception few series here and there). Afgans will have a VERY VERY difficult time this Asia cup even though the game is being played at their old home.

I actually would've preferred if it was UAE. They were top of their group, and are the host, so really, it should've been them in the main round. I don't understand this "final thing" before-hand because it makes no sense, though, at the same time, I'm not even bothered.
