Default Julien Fountain to leave BD team officially

Fountain demands swift payment

Quote:
Former fielding coach of Bangladesh cricket team Julien Fountain has criticised the Bangladesh Cricket Board for not

completing his payment before appointing his successor.

Fountain, who was shown the door by the BCB in April in the aftermath of a low-key World Cup performance, arrived in Dhaka last week to collect his personal belongings.

He was expecting a reappointment as was promised by the BCB high-ups and thus did not vacate the house that was provided to him.

But his hopes were dashed last week when the BCB named Australian Jason Swift as the new fielding coach of the Tigers for the next two years.

‘I think I deserved better treatment from the board. They did not renew my contract even after giving me a verbal assurance,’ a disappointed Fountain told reporters on Sunday.

The BCB admitted to the fact that they are yet to clear his payment but promised to complete the job shortly.

‘Yes, I got to know that his payment has not been fully cleared. But it should not be an issue. I have already asked the finance department to complete it,’ said Enayet Hossain Siraj, the chairman of cricket operations committee.

Meanwhile newly-appointed fielding coach Swift, who replaced Fountain, is confident about making the Tigers a better fielding unit despite knowing that laziness is a common trait among sub-continental players.

‘I have dealt with some lazy customers before and managed to get the best out of them. I am sure we will find a way here and that is what coaching is all about,’ Swift told reporters.

Swift, an ECB Level 4 qualified coach, who was previously involved with Lancashire county club, hoped that it would be easier for the Tigers to become a good fielding unit as the side consists of a lot of young legs.

‘Nothing helps like fresh agile legs to be a good fielding side. I don’t think there needs to be a lot of changes,’ Swift said.

This is really embarrassing. Not renewing a contract is not a crime but why couldn't we do it on good terms? if we keep treating people like this then in the future nobody will come to work for us.

The only reason Stuart Law is here is because of the money let's be honest. You don't think he would choose BD over Sri Lanka otherwise. Coaches do not want to come and coach in BD because of the way the board behaves.

Julien is a good coach and good guy. This new guy Swift is already starting to sound like an idiot from what he said.

It is indeed most disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour from BCB...but then again I don't expect nothing better from a pile of scumbags!

Keep these two issues separate.
Julian was a good coach, a fan favourite. Whatever happened, it is between him and the cricket board. But that does not mean you are going to complete dismiss Law and other new coaches for that.

By the way, who you think was here NOT for money ???

Utterly unprofessional by the board, if they indeed say that. First they mislead him and now they are dilly dallying on payments? It doesnt surprise me much because Bangladesh teams are known for this.. just like FIFA has sanctioned Sheikh Jamal to pay a fine, just like Mohammedan has not paid so many foreign players if they leave volunarily.... so why would BCB be different? same people,, same mindset. And when we try to find out why other nationals don't want to coach or come here!!!

Is there anyone who will even think once, of doing it without money? Even local coaches won't do it ...

Julien I am extremely sorry for what happened so far. You might have gotten wrong impression about Bangladesh for the ill treatment given to you. But I can assure you that we, the general Bangladeshi people are not as bad as these morons are making it look.

You can call to New Age and ask for the journalist and talk with him directly.

Ok...read what Swift said: ‘I have dealt with some lazy customers before and managed to get the best out of them. I am sure we will find a way here and that is what coaching is all about,’ Swift told reporters.

To arrive here in BD and call the players lazy is one of the most remarkable things I can think of. He doesn't even KNOW the names of the players, let alone who can do what. Plus of course, Julien has developed the side into a cohesive, professional fielding unit, so he has totally disrespected the previous coach, and also the strength & conditioning coach.

You are entitled to your view that his comments are perfectly fine, but I simply don't feel that he should be criticizing the players before he has even started. So yeah I am critical of the comments I am hearing.

BD now has two, undiplomatic, crass and non-understanding Australians with big mouths. Brilliant....

After he watches Razzak trying to field, he will have to re-invent a new word for lazy customer.

Relax LBW103 mate. Swift didn't say anything as you suspected.

We may like or not, we have a new set up of coaches who will be with us for next two years. Unless they do their job for a considerable period of time (at least 1 year) there is no way to evaluate them. Let us give them that time.
