Default What is going wrong with the BD team?

Losing by an innings and 200 runs+ to a lower ranked test team and before that getting whitewashed by a new test nation cannot only be down to ability , this is the same team that won a test versus Australia and England .

So what is going wrong with this team ?

- Lack of desire ?
- Lack of discipline?
- Divisions within the team ?
- A captain who is having a negative influence on the team?
- Loss of form of key players like Tamim and Mushfiq ?
- Lack of contribution from youngsters ?
- Distractions from outside (MP nominations) ?
- Loss of confidence after the SA tour ?
- New Coach?

The drop in performance has been nothing short of amazing when you consider just last year we were part of top 6/7 teams in ODIs and also making it to 8 in tests. There has to be some reason behind this huge downfall

Do we perhaps need a psychologist here or a hard taskmaster to stop the bad culture in the team

Both of those wins against Australia and England were at home. Friendly to them.

Those losses you mentioned were all away games

So you think if we play England and Australia tomorrow at home we will beat them? Didn't we lose to Sri Lanka at home recently?

The problems run deeper than just home/away factors

I'm just saying on a wider scale BD will most likely beat those teams again at home.

Sri Lanka is a Sub-Continental team.

Afghanistan are ranked higher than BD in T20Is (what you mentioned in ur opening post)

So you are saying if Australia and England were to tour tomorrow they will most likely lose to this bunch. Not the least bit likely with the current state of the team And we beat Sri Lanka in a test match in Sri Lanka. Where was the subcontinent factor then ? We did much better back then than the last series vs Sri Lanka at home , it is not even a debate that the current team is performing much poorly than before.

Yes, statistically they would beat the Aussies and the Poms

Failed Team.

Take a cue from Kenya, and decommission BCB.

I think to simplify it’s down to passion and professionalism, of course the players would argue that I’m sure but at such a high level you can’t leave any stone unturned if you want to be truly great.

What a coincidence that all four seniors 'lose' form at the same time. This has happened few times before where all 4 seniors fail in a series.

Coaching can be factor; lack of coaching I meant. The way BD players were batting it seemed to me they were playing ODI. It has been 19 years we have been playing tests, although by the number test matches played it could be 7/8 years, yet we should have a different test team. You may disagree, but Tamim for some reasons did not act like a test opener.

Yes coaching of course can be a factor but that can’t be the excuse for the senior players who have been playing test cricket for 10 years give or take.

Tamim, mushy, shakib and riyad should know themselves well enough to best prepare themselves for an upcoming test series.

One thing BCB could do is prepare a longer tour so that the team arrives earlier and plays more practise matches, these days teams don’t seem to do that too much.

What is wong with the BD men's cricket team?
Eder Pacha-te khub Chorbi hoye geche!

Translation for brockley, Gowza and aklemalp -
The BD team problem is: Each and everyone of the BD players' buttocks gathered too much fat over the years! And due to this high fat content, they are NOT feeling any pain (shame -same thing)!

I may be wrong, but most Bangaldeshis I know or come across these days, they don't care about BD cricket.

I mean the expectation level is high. If BD performs well, they care.

If not, no one cares anymore. Everyone is busy with their life.

Like what has happened in our politics. There was a time when people were involved more or less. But now a days, people couldn't care less.

this is the worst attitude to have. you dont care still you flock to the stadium filling the pockets of BCB and the losers(players)

if you dont care about the result while filling their pockets why would these losers care?

We have not produced any talent with the ball or bat since 2007. No young player seem to have the professional discipline and skill to make it at the international level.
