Pybus Joins West Indies
Pybus appointed West Indies' director of cricket
Richard Pybus, the former Pakistan and Bangladesh coach, has been appointed West Indies' director of cricket. Pybus will provide cricketing expertise to help develop West Indies' regional and international cricketers, over a three-year period starting November 1.
WICB chief executive Michael Muirhead said Pybus was chosen after reviewing several applicants. "Securing the services of Richard is a major coup for the WICB," Muirhead said. "I look forward to Richard joining us in Antigua and enhancing the work which we are doing, so as to ensure that all the necessary structures are in place to allow West Indian cricketers to develop and flourish. He has extensive knowledge in designing and managing successful cricket development systems both at the grassroots and elite levels, and we look forward to him building on the work we have already done."
Pybus, who was set to fly out to the West Indies on Friday, said he was keyed up for the job. "I am particularly looking forward to working with the West Indies teams, the first-class sides, the High Performance Programme and the educational structures, to ensure a rigorous, competitive system that feeds through elite players to international level."
Apart from two stints with Pakistan, and most recently a very short one with Bangladesh, Pybus has coached extensively in South Africa, at the franchise level. In the West Indies, he will be based at the WICB secretariat in Antigua.

yeah don't think he has much respect here after how he left the BD head coach position but i've no hard feelings, i don't think he was a good fit for the BD team anyway.

TIGER FRIENDS!!..whats your thoughts on Richard Pybus?
He's just been appointed our new "director of Cricket" HERE. Looking at his record his last job seems to have been as your head coach!!..so what happened with him and why did he leave so soon? apparently he's gonna be incharge of working with our teams from youth to senior level and also improving our domestic competitions having had experience in County and South African franchize cricket.

Richard is one of the finest coaches available. But he will NOT stand any interference in his work from 'appointed officials' who know little about how to build success.
If he is allowed to do his job he might transform WI cricket. The easiest way to keep RP is to let him do the job is is appointed for. Otherwise the classic coach excuse of "family reasons" will be cited as a reason to leave.

So Ian!!..what does the job of a "cricket director" usually involve? We know he's used to being a head coach but we've already got Ottis Gibson in that role so what will Richard be doing? some sources suggest he will be working with players from our domestic and international teams and looking to improve our domestic competitions but how would he go about doing that?
But thanks four your info and yes i really hope our board are smart enough to let the man do his thing!!..i'm sure Richard wouldn't have taken it on if he was restricted anyway.

And there lies the issue. Our board, and TBH all of Bangladesh, is full of people with opinion on everything without any knowhow. It was a mix of both extremes that was set to fail.
