Default Whatmore said Mushfiq may play in Lord\'s

Asked if their 16-year-old prodigy Mushfiqur Rahim had a chance of playing as a specialist batsman, although he came as reserve wicketkeeper, Whatmore replied: ''Why not?''

''He battled it out very nicely in the first innings [Rahim lasted for 140 minutes] and in the second innings he made 60-odd with wickets tumbling at the other end,'' said Whatmore.

Whatmore ready to hand 16-year old test debut !

If Mushfique is picked, Aftab may be dropped.

Dav may think Shahadat is going to be the 3rd seamer, and can handle the responsibility. In order to strengthen our batting line up, Aftab's bowling may be compromized.

i think we need rajin in our team. almost all our middle order consists of hit and miss flashy players and rajin is one player capable of grinding it out.i want to wait till the 2nd test to put mushfiq in

I think Whatmore is just toying with the reporters and fans. He didn't want to close any doors at this point. Thats it.

Why is this English journalist so obsessed with Rahim's age? It seems that Rahim's batting is less important than his age which is 16 years ---days "as written in the passport".
Every time I read a column like this I get a feeling these European people always think we Asians hide our real age. I remeber when Nafis Iqbal scored a century against the touring English side -the English reporters repeatedly asked him "Your age is given as 19 years, are you really that young?" Iqbal had to reply " Look at me- I have not still started to shave my beard, how old do I look to you?"
This age-related questions must be another of the typical British tricks to undermine us Asian people.

Yes Warlock, not only age is important to them, many other irrelevant things are important to the British media to undermine our team and performance. Take the case of Shahadat or Mashrafe; their bowling performance is less important for them than what their fathers' profession. They started calling them "Bird Man", because according to their report their fathers are "Chicken Farmers". An all rubbish British media.

Dav has never ruled out any possibilities. BD management has learned a lot in the last couple years, and I think this time, they will again take the right steps, and NOT hurry any of these youngsters into the team based on their performances in recent practice matches...

the playing XI for the first Test at Lord's is likely to include only one newcomer, and that is Rajib, to complete the bowling dep't of 3 seamers (mash and tapash being the other two) and one spinner (Rafique), with aftab's medium pacer. Mashud will keep wicket, and batting will depend on Javed, Nafis Iqbal, Bashar, Ash, Rajin and the affore-mentioned Aftab.

The way some people are thinking that Bangladesh is dropping Sachin Tendulkar, not Rajin Saleh.

I hope he wont feel pressurized to score a century or fifty in Lord's. The pressure of playing the debut match itself is enough for a player regardless of his age.

well mushfique did good actually he did very good against a third string bolers in a 3 day match where actually the game was not even played for 2 ful days. so i am still doubtful how he will perform on a 5 day match which will consist of bolers like harmission and hogwards.

And Rajin score a grand total of 1 against the same bowler. And you you have all the confidence about Rajin and no confidence about mushfique.
