There was a time when Mash was injured for a long time and we had only one pacer. It was Taposh. We tried a mile long list of other pacers on the other end but he kept one end covered. Really, there was only one pacer of any class for BD for a while. He did great service then. But I guess, beside remembering him fondly, there is nothing else we can do. Current bunch are way better.

At the very end of Tapash interview on PA, he told the interviewer he does not want his boy to become a fast bowler he rather see him as batsmen who bowls SLA. In his word career as fast bowler is tough. I don't know whether he means in Bangladesh or in general.
This is the clear reason of why there is big shortage of fast bowlers in Bangladesh. This is not coaches fault. Our cricketer simply don't want to become fast bowlers.

Whether he is in the squad or not, BCB should let him train under Ian Pont. I still think he has so much more to give to Bangladesh Cricket. I hope he nakes it back to the national team. This will give us a good reserve of pacers. In terms of wicket taking ability - Tapash > Nazmul.

Tapas exemplified blue-collar pace bowling. He did not have express pace and often bowled erratically, but somehow he was bigger than the sum of his parts. A true hard worker. Our current crop of pacers can learn a lot from him.

ditto...he always gave his 150%...even when diving in the field to save boundaries. He was, when i first started following, the fastest bowler we had, regularily hitting 135 k.
he did bowl some tight spells, but really lost it during the 2005 Natwest series with all those no balls.

Also has genuine potential with the bat.
The local umps are still weary of being sprayed by his abundant sweat every time he hits the deck.

I will always have a lot of feelings and respect for this particular bowler. We, the long followers of BD cricket, must not forget how crucially he contributed when MASH was not their to lead our pace attack due to injuries.

Bowlers from the prior generation Taposh, Mash, and Rafique could all bat and beat the crap of of the ball. Even Shahadat could bat. What's up with our newest crop of bowlers?

Some of his cover drives were just perfect! I remember commentators saying that how come he bats at 10/11, because he really could bat a lot better than that...
Thanks to Tapash for serving country for during the toughest time

If Taposh plays, then all the curry houses in East London will be empty on the game day.

sorry but I just had to bump this thread up.....since so many fans only visit BC during match time, they need to see and remember one of the heroes of Bangladesh who apart from giving us some glorious moments, propped us up in our darkest hours.
