Shiplu has already demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and is succeeding in the process. Whether he sustains this early success remains to be seen. It is overly enthusiastic and I'm talking about the wonderful enthusiasm of a child here, to claim he is the "greatest ever".

Having said that, I'd love to see him take the new ball in Australia, England and South Africa against legendary batsmen capable of playing quality pace.

I didn't call you a child, dude. I referred to the enthusiasm behind calling someone at the onset of his career "the greatest ever". That IS childish. I don't find that sort of premature enthusiasm to be either a bad or an irritating thing. To the contrary, I find it adorable and an integral part of being a passionate fan.

I too was similarly enthusiastic about Ashraful, Alok, Junaid, Dhiman and Imrul and took heat for that.

You reap what you sow, dude. This is a public forum where people WILL react and respond to your threads and mine. We learn through such interaction. Learning and growing is far more important that winning online popularity contests IMHO

Shanto was ok not devilish. You have to consider the quality of the players in that era he was playing in and the international opponents. Even I played 2nd division cricket at that time....so I can vouch it was rather easier back then and considerably tougher now.
His action, however, was superb and helped him generate fair bit of pace but was still considerably slower for the international standard.

I wouldn't even go that far. I would like to see him bowl against quality left handers first and see how he can trouble them.

To the right handers, Robiul has a wonderful late away swing in favorable condition but has no ability in bringing the ball back or even get the ball to straighten. For him to trouble quality lefties he needs to be able to swing it enough, not prodigiously, find the rare gap between bat and pad or hit the pads to get wickets.

Don't get me wrong, Robiul bowled superb so far in this series and I pray to god he keeps up this consistency for the sake our team but unless he can swing or nip the ball back both ways with his pace he has a long way to go before reaching Mash's, who by far is the best bowler Bangladesh has ever produced imho, caliber.

hasibul hossain got injured at a very bad time ...... he was really peaking and maturing into a good bowler.

he and manju formed a very good duo in the 1999 WC. dont you remember the game vs Scotland. shanto and manju's opening spell got the top order demolished which was very important.

unless that elahi hit shanto with that bat, i fell shanto would have been somebody like vaas for us.

also talha jubair is another one who was lost due to injuries

Robiul will be equally effective against left handers as he will bring the lbws back into play with the ball swing back into left handers. His stock delivery would be the one he slants across the left hander without swinging

I was lucky enough to say iv seen robiul bowl live in his first test match agaisnt England- and I must say I was really disappointed he didn't even get many overs and I think he didn't even get any wickets but seems like he has improved a lot since then and regarding him being the best pacer bowler being produced in Bangladesh it's too early to know but currently it's got to be mash leading the way..

Yeah it's still too early. However, he doesn't have to do that much more to move ahead of the best(Mortaza imo) and if he continues like this he will be the best. Only time will tell.

Mashrafee of 2001 was the best fast bowler we ever had.... Mashrafee of now is just a shadow of his previous self who does bowl some decent spells time to time....

I would pick Robiul over Mashrafee any day...

Robiul looks like is turning into a good test pacer for Bangladesh national test team. and he should be tried at ODI's soon, he's bowling looks like could be effective in this format too, but a big no to t20!

He's the best pace bowler produced by Bangladesh in tests already. That doesn't mean he's legendary, that just means you've never had a decent test pacer so far. He's the only one who looked test class, ever.

So far Robiul has done a great job. Still time has not come to comment about greatest we have produced. But he seems a good bowler. Robiul is not an express bowler. He bowls around 130. His main strength is his out swing. As he dont rely much on pace f he fail to extract swing he will look ordinary. Yesterday he was looking venom less due to lack of L/L and swing. He is a hard working guy. So I hope he will continue his good work.
