Default historic win for BD-A?

i think this is our first win agianst a county side. but i'm not sure.

have we (the a team) ever beaten a decently respectable side in 3 or 4-dayers before today?

As they say, put a star beside the win.

I think we should send our so called ''A'' team to play in the County Champs Div. 2 or maybe the Ranji Trophy every year.

why do you say that? we batted better 2nd innings, they did 1st innings. even stevens.

we also had to chase 4th innings, rather than let a good start allow us to cruise past a dery comeback. i'd say it was a good stepping stone with decent quality opposition. i mean i could see the windies struggling against county sides.

I wouldn't call it a histroic win. They were challenged to win this game and they were quite upto the task. A good win for the confidence. A good practice for the boys.

In both innings they declared. An over or two in both innings would result a draw or a loss.

Not sure if its historic, but its certainly a big moral boosting win for the boys.
Mind you, this is not just an A team, its an A+ team. Almost half of the boys are recruited from the current national team that played in Asia cup.

So, a semi-national team beating a county side, even though big for us, but not a huge deal in internatioanl standard.

Nevertheless, before the all important match against the Saffers, this would give us an extra energy.

true, but often tests are like that. high risk, high reward.

at 300-6, first innings they would have scored 350-400 with rogers in there. which is 100 more than what they got. 2nd innings they would have scored 20-30 more the way rogers was losing tail end partners. you're right we wouldn't have won the match inside 3 days, but they way we batted in the 4th innings i'd say a 4 dayer would have been very close and we might just have won one of those.

i would completely agree with you, if the score was like this"

BD A first innings 285 all out
Derby first innings 210 all out
BD A second innings 190 all out
Derby second innings 250 all out

BD A wins by 15 runs

in this case, we would have narrowly escaped losing and conceded a big comeback.

however the actual case was that WE staged the comeback and to such an extent that we had an easy 4 wicket win in our site.

winning after being down 3 touchdowns at the half even if by a field goal is more impressive than being up 28 at the half and managing to win by 7, isn't it?

Although it was a whole team effort but it was Tamim's aggresive innings at the top that changed the mindset and instill some fire on others mind.

I think they won 1-2 games prior to WC 99. I think they won against Hampshire...don't remember much though.

Actually, they beat Essex and Middlesex prior to the WC 99.

This time around, they could have beaten Offsex and Nossex and Leggsex.

Can't think it to be a historic win. If it is because of the soil of Eng, we made history in cardif in ODI. What's so historic about beating Derby with half of national side? They clearly underestimated us and declared a little early, that too a win by 1 wkt in the last over.

If they batted a couple of overs more and added 15 runs more, it was absurd.

Good win. No doubt about that. Historic? Don't know about it, but, maybe called as one, since we don't have too many from the past.

Just wish one of the main batsmen scored a big one to the target. Tamim's start is the key. Again the kid impresses me.

Mushy continues to show his quality and excels in playing with lower order and tail. Not everybody can do it. I would like him to be a test no.6. A batsman of his quality who is also a wkt keepr for the side is huge. We can become much more flexible with our bowling options because of this.

This lower order ( tail )of the 'A' team will kick the main teams rear any day. They all can bat to some extent.

Lets not forget that the opponents made a sporting decision by declaring on their 8th wicket...they could've spent more time in the middle, and killed any possibility of us chasing the targete.

Yes its a history that repeats itself whenever Bangladesh plays. They went from 270-6 and needing something like 13-15 runs to barely winning by 1 wicket.
