Best Scenario: Bat as long as possible, no declaration until we have enough overs to bowl them out .... We shouldn't need more than 100 overs to bowl them out on the 5th day pitch. If we can bat that long, we will b able to give them a target of 250-300.. That should be enough.

Minimum: at least bat out 3rd day and get 100 run lead.

I hope we score at least 350. I just don't have a good give about our batting after seeing how Nafees, Jahurul were throwing the bat.
Ash needs to score big for us.

What would be the ideal first innings total?

IMHO, we should be looking to WIN this match, so if we bat whole day tomorrow (possible given that we still have 3 of our main batsman to bat), we will score another 315 (90*3.5) without losing more than 5 wickets by end of day 3. That will give us about 100+ runs lead. Then come out on day 4 and bat another 30 overs at least to take the lead to 180+ by 4th day Lunch. So ideally I would be happy, in fact WE SHOULD score 500+ on this track. No venom on this bowling attack unless we gift our wickets away.

We have enough spinners to put Zim under pressure on of day 4 it will assist them.

What you say?
exactly the same i feel.

need to get a lead of 100-200. and bat at least upto tomorrow lunch

My target is to bat till the end of Day 4 and use the whole Day 5 to bowl them out. The wickets will be very good for spin in the last day and we will have the upper going into the last day since we have Sohag, Enamul, Mahmudullah, Shakib, Ash and Nasir at our disposal in terms of spinners. Robiul will chime in very nicely with the ball. I think we can pull it off.

It depends on how Ash and Janurul handles the pacers early in the morning tomorrow. I would say plan to bat longer and if we have wickets in hand we could accelerate at the end with Shakib and Nasir....

The stage we are in now, 400 is minimum and should be the score we are looking to get, 475 should be ideal.

Bangladesh would ideally want to score 100 runs per session and make well over 450 by batting well on Days 3 and 4. If they lose too many wickets on Day 3 thats going to make the task too difficult and Bangladesh would be going for a draw and might even see Zim pushing for a win. At least two batsmen really need to apply themselves for a long innings. The ideal scenario is to make 550-600 and watch Zimbabwe sweat.

We need to bat big and bat once so I would say 600 is ideal to hopefully inflict an innings defeat.

It all depends how Sir Ash bats....he could be the difference in this test.

If he treats the Zimbos like Sri Lanka, he might score big. And if he scores big, we would win the match IMHO.

Not expecting anything big from Shakib. He didn't have any match practice since the WI game in November. He might struggle in this game.

Hope I'm wrong. We need big innings from our middle order batsmen.
