Big blow experience wise, but considering his form not sure if it would effect the team.

Time for him to retire. Tired of carrying this handicapped bowler and then suffer in the middle of every series. Time to move on. Mash doesn't have much cricket left

Why he was playing injured against India in the 1st place? Players, specially FBs, who are 100% fit should play, not 80% fit.

Capable bowler Al-Amin was warming the bench while injured (not fully fit) Mashrafee plays. All morons...

Other than his experience, we're not going to miss much as he wasn't very effective anyways.

Wish him a speedy recovery

This is so sad. He should just call it quits

Mash is our most economical FB, and his good line and length and economical bowling creates pressure and generates wickets for the other FB. That was true during the Syed Rasel days, and it's still true now to a lesser extent. A not-100% Mash is still our best FB apart from death-over bowling. Less importantly, other than Zia, he was also the only other big-hitter in our lower order.

But this gives Al-Amin another opportunity and us another opportunity to judge Al-Amin, and Shakib's return after the AFG game will mitigate Mash's loss overall in the bowling dept.

Just for the AFG game, if Mushy can't play, with Mash gone, this creates another problem as to who will lead us. Razzak and Naeem aside, the rest are all kids. It should go to Razzak, but he doesn't seem like good captain material, and Naeem is a part-timer.

nazmul is a similar bowler to mash, he really should have been utilised more often during the absences of mash. now both get injured constantly. btw in the last 12 months mash has played 5 ODIs at an average of 77 with only 3 wickets. he use to comeback and bowl well straight away, it seems he is finding it difficult to do that nowadays. the next 12 months could decided whether he can continue successfully or not, if he continues to struggle then maybe it's time to move on.

Mashrafe's greatest asset is probably his people skill, and ability to rally everyone. Almost all our players have mentioned he's the best guy to have in the dressing room.

I really hope the guy pursues a coaching certificate and joins our academy or national team as a bowling coach.

This injury could be the final nail in his coffin as a profession bd fast bowler.
Like Jeesh mentioned, he can be a great asset to the coaching staff!

I miss the days of the 3 SLA's and Mash. Rafique, Razzak at his best, Shakib, and Mashrafe at his best: That was a world-class attack.

I'd consider him still for the 2015 WC since he'd still be an asset with his experience but I feel he should retire after this WC. His body is just giving out. As some people suggested, I think he'd make a good coach once he calls it quits.

Absolutely. Probably the best bowling attack Bangladesh has ever fielded. The trio of Rafique, Razzak and Shakib frustrated the heck out of opposition.

Now you got...Razzak, Shakib and Arafat....even Gazi (when he gets his form back!)

Possibly taijul as well, even saqlain sajib maybe. I do think shakib, razzak and Arafat will be a great combo though.

It's just a side strain and nothing major, so I can see Mashrafee making a comeback. But because he has a long history of injury maybe he should limit his focus to T-20s, if he can improve his death over bowling, he can be an asset in the shortest format.
