Default Players Faruque wants back in the team

From Kaler Kantha -

For people can't read Bangla, here are four players Faruque wants to see back in the national team sometime in future -

Shahriar Nafees: Faruque sees him someone with good cricket intelligence. With the added benefit of him being well experienced now, Faruque thinks SN will do well when he returns to the national team.

Junaid Siddique: Faruque thinks it was his fitness that held him back. Now that he is working hard on fitness, Faruque sees potential for his return in LOIs.

Liton Kumar: Faruque thinks Liton is extraordinary, there should not be any question about his eventual return to the national team.

Raqibul Hasan: Faruque think he was mismanaged, should not have been even close to the T20I team. Faruques sees his potential for the Test team.

However, no chance for Alok Kapali what so ever, regardless how well he plays in domestics. Faruque does not think he has the required fitness for international cricket, and is not even worthy to be considered in place of Riyad, Nasir, or Sabbir.

dislike anamul more then i like him but its absurd not to mention him here.. problem is he is not the batsman everyone and he himself thinks he is. he should play as last batsman in limited overs cricket as he can hit boundaries and murder spinners..maybe 10 years into int crickt he can open like dilshan, he is not some kohli or williamson

I am more optimistc of Rakibul and Liton, i don' see any hope of kucha nafees. He cannot take plae of tamim and soumya as like kapali cannot mahmudullah's and rahim's. Only thing faruqe intentionally forgot to mention it by very well remembered to mnetion in alok's case.

This is like going backwards, SN, JS can't do any good to the team.

He also forgot to mention his cousin's (SN) horrible fitness level, unlike he did for Alok.

Whatever his view on alok is, he could have been a bit more respectful. Its not like Alok is begging him to be included.

I like the list.

Although I don't know if they can get in.

My choices would be Liton and Raqibul.

Liton is extremely important for the future. If Mushi doesn't figure out his batting across the format, we need someone like Liton. I like Anamul but only for ODIs.

Indifferent on SN and JS. If they can make it, they have to perform.

Enough with the AAA. Thanks for your services (Two of them). The Third one should just send monthly checks to BCB for his crime (Penalty).

Liton is a new kid. He have every chance. Among the older guy, I dont see much chance for anybody. But Junayed had the ability thats for sure.

Alok and Bijoy definitely have a stake for the T20 teams....I usually have high regards for Faruque(have praised him highly in the past here) but i think he sometimes gets things wrong, and this is one of them.

Age is not a factor for T20(you have very old guys still performing like champs in both international and premier T20 leagues)

I'll stop watching cricket if SN ever comes back. Hate that guy!!

Alok should be in T20. He has way more to offer than Homs and Mithuns..

No More JuSi por favor. Havent heard anything significant about The Rock.

Nafees can be a good pick for our test team. Besides Mash, Nafees has the best cricket brain in the country I think. Alok can also be added in our test team. Maybe in T20 too

But I would prefer fresh blood for our LO team

Personally i feel Junaid could be a good T20 player. He has a terrific build, powerful shoulders, chest, upper arm. He times the ball beautifully too.

Raqibul was as good as Shakib with the bat when he started off. Terrific technique and temperament.

I think we chop and change too much. When such guys have lean patch, we need to be able to provide them with proper coaching, mentoring, guidance. Like Soumya for example, could easily follow that path, if someone doesnt work on his technique. And our players are such that they wont do it by themselves on their own time. We are not there yet.

I'd take Shamsur over SN if we're talking about backups. He's outperformed him in FC competition and so far has done well in the DPL. SN could be next in line though.

I could see a possibility of Junaid in T20I's. Jahurul is also not a bad option.

LKD is still our WK in the Test team and don't see that changing as he's the best combo of WK-batsman

Raqibul and Marshall should definitely be our first choice backups in Tests. Especially considering Marshall is a specialist #3 in Tests

I am walking to the future, NOT going back ->

The current bunch we have, plus, the future Miraz, Shanto, Musaddek & Co will lead us ahead I believe.

Thank you SN, Raqibul, Alok, (big?) Z for your service to the national team

what mostly irritate me of Faruq's statements as if Alok somehow certainly is making his way to national team and has agenda to prove faruq is wrong. Faruq is making himself not only fool front of us by telling khucha Nafeess and haga-stance Zunaid can come back to the team, but also proving he is just biased for some reason against Alok.

We don't need any of those craps anymore, time to move forward.

Nafees has been terrific in NCL consistently and therefore, if there is a slot waiting to be filled for test cricket, his name should be up there regardless of how much of a 'khocha" player you guys make him.

You guys talk about not going "backwards" but dont realize that continuing this "debut and chop" theory that our selectors has been using has not done ANY good for our longer format. We have had Anamul, Shamsur, Marshal, Nasir, Liton and soon Soumya will be in that list too.

If a veteran makes a late comeback in his career, there is no "going back" by giving him another go! Look at Imrul! After avg around 14-17 for the longest time, he made a comeback and now holds a permanent opening slot in the side. Does he have half the technical attributes Shahriar Nafees or Roqibul Hasan has? Don't even kid yourselves!

I'd strongly say, people who don't give any benefit to the team should never be included. It not only downgrades the team performance but also stops the country from winning the game.

^^How is picking Nafees/ "going backwards" gonna solve the "debut and chop" problem? To me it seems it will add to the debut and chop problem u speak of. What we need to do is debut and persist

I think Aashish Nehra provided a terrific example of why sometimes it might be smart to back an experienced player provided of course he fits the bill.

I feel a big crime which our selectors often commit is pushing players too early. Before we tried settling the likes of Mominul, Anamul, they are now going after the newer players.

Another thing BCB must realize is because our domestic cricket isnt strong enough, and still very picnic based. The HP/Academy must be a full time concern. For eg: Shouldnt there be a coach who should work with technique of say Kapali or Mominul during the time when there is no cricket?

There are players we see and we know that these guys are international material. Players such as Shabbir and Soumia. These guys may not score a zillion runs in FC cricket but when we see their shots and the timing we know that they have that extra bit. We have given plenty of opportunities to the hard workers who are now out of the side.

Junaid enjoyed tremendous support under Siddons and consistently failed.

Rokibul also got plenty of chances and got bowled more than he got runs

Shahriar Nafees has the technique suited for the nineties era, fishing outside off stump constantly and we could see that even when he was in form. And then he left for ICL money just when he was in his prime. Same with Alok.

Naeem: had plenty of chances returned mediocre results and never was a match winner beside that fluke innings vs zimbabwe. He almost cost us the gold medal against Afghanistan until Shabbir rescued us.

Momimul: continues to play test cricket and has had plenty of chances to prove himself in shorter formats

Anamul's issue is different. His attitude as a team player is in question and when a fair and honest leader like Mash dont pick u in the team, u know u got a problem.

For Tests, you need loads and loads of experience, technique and skill. It makes more sense to have older mature performing folks there as opposed to all new blood. Before any veteran makes a comeback for test cricket, they should definitely play in A team and perform there.
