Is Abdur Razzak back?

Abdur Razzak was at one point our best bowler, specially in ODI's and T20's. I think he was in the top 10 ICC ODI Bowler ranking a few years ago.

But with his unsuccessful sting in the IPL, with troubles with his bowling action and with injuries, he lost his form and seemed to have lost his confidence as well.

I know it's only two games and it's against a weaker opponent, but do you think that Abdur Razzak is back and will start performing like he was a few years back?

If he's back, just imagine how strong our spin attack will be with Shakib and Razzak. IMO, that would be one of the best spin duo, specially in ODI's. And with Mash and Rasel back, we'd have a bowling lineup comparable to the strongest teams.

What do you folks think?

Two good games in a row and a past track record of success.... I would say yes...he is back in ODI.

He was also the MoM in the first ODI in the Caribbean.

A performing Razzak is so important for our ODI bowling attack. He usually comes in, shuts down the runs and creates lots of pressure on the batsmen. This pressure should also allow other bowlers to pick up wickets as well. Let's hope he keeps it up.

I am just scared, if falls back to old habit again, he will be banned for life, since its is 3rd strike.

lets hope he is taking those wickets within the guideline.

Me too. Those who watched the game must have seem the replays and his actions. Please comment on today's Raj's action and how did it look. Some umpires and captain target few opponent players and before a series begin, they exchange notes. In away tours, this should be addressed properly.

Just to clear "exchange notes", this can be done in various ways.

text messaging.

Pre-series/pre-game comments by the captains or players to the media. Something to the line, "So and so is a great bowler. He just got out of a suspension from illegal action. I hope he has corrected his action. We have to look out for his fast one." etc.

Does it, people? Looked to me these days his arm remains quite straight while bowling, not like before when it used to (which I didn't figure out until he was banned) break in the midway.

I think he is back. He was once my favorite bowler and looks really good right now.

He's back to play but not sure how long he will be successful. See the reason for his recent success is that he's playing a team that's not well equipped to play spin and on top of that Zim batsmen didn't play him or saw him play for a while....so there's still some element of doubt in their mind. I think they did their home work against Shakib too much to forgot Razzak. And Razzak is taking a full toll. But to his credit; it's not always easy to come bacl from injuries and perform the way he has been.

If Razzak continues at this rate, that would be so good for our cricket. Not only it will take some pressure off of Shakib in challenging the opponents but will also challenge Shakib to do better....remember how Shakib relishes challenge within his own team mates.

not all his deliveries were illegal, it was his quicker ones... so as long as he refrain sending those quicker ones he should be all right.

i for one, think that the biggest chucker in internation cricket is afridi, each of his quicker delivery is virtually a "dhila" or throw, yet this guy has never been mentioned and here our poor rajjak has got all the stick.

Absolutely true. Considering he is one of our greatest asset for national team, he deseves special care from the Board. With Shakib and Raj in the spin attack and Mash and Rasel in pace, we can be very awkard for the top battting line ups of the world.

His action looks a lot better to me. He doesn't bend his elbow as much and neither does he straighten as much.

So did he not bowl the quicker one at all the last 2 games? Or is he still doing it, but with a different action, without bending the elbow much?

If Razzak is back to his old self to the player he was a couple of years ago, it won't matter the opposition we're playing, he'll usually have success against all the teams. Remember, pre, World Cup 2007 and post, he was one of our best ODI bowler and he could trouble any batting lineup. If he's back at that level, I think he'll be just fine against the top teams too.
