Should Ashraful be dropped for the rest of this series?
I will say NO. I can almost smell a big innings coming up from him. So give him atleast one more shot, i think he may well shut the critics mouth for another 3-4 months.

No ... let him dig his own grave (if he care to do so).
After all its his career (not mine), so let him do whatever he want to do... go the the next step and do justice to his potential or parmanently tag himself as an under achiever.

BCB have indirectly put an indispensable tag on Ashraful, by keeping their faith on him for years.

Hi,
I don't know under what basis you guys are supporting Ashraful's inclusion in this series. Look at his record in this series (both ODI and Test).
IMHO, he should be dropped from the 4th and 5th. This is do or die, right? You can not bank on any "if" when your life is at stake. I would expect some common sense from Dave and Bashar. This is not time for emotions, this is time for preofessionalism.
Thanks
Shimraj

shimraj, the basis of our support is that...Ashraful is a match winner. when he plays....Bangladesh wins. So i think Bashar and Dave will show more common sense if they keep him. It's do or die and Ashraful does just that for our team.

We fans are no better than our players - Ashraful, a hero in the India series, is being brought down to zero again because he did not get a big score. Well he gave us 12 runs in 12 balls. Have patience

Bangladesh were playing very poor cricket for the last one year. It was Ashraful's brave innings against India, which changed the attitude and body language of whole Bangladesh team.

Well, 12 from 12 by Abdur Razzak can be an outstanding feat, but definitely not by the caliber of Asharaful.
Anyway, let's wait and see. I hope I am wrong. The squad has already been declared. Razzak out, Rafique in. Good replacement!
Bangladesh squad for fourth and fifth ODIs
Nafis Iqbal, Rajin Saleh, Aftab Ahmed, Habibul Bashar (capt), Mohammad Ashraful, Alok Kapali, Khaled Mashud (wk), Khaled Mahmud, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Baisya, Enamul Haque jnr, Nazmul Hossain, Manjural Islam Rana.

asraful scord 126 runs in 5 innings at 25.2 aveage.
If you take the one run out away just to judge his batting - it would be 126 for 4 outs at average of 31.5.

No way.......Ash should be there. Think about Sourav Ganguly....he was out of form for a while...did they drop him....although they had a lot of replacement in hand. We don't even have any good replacement of him......
stick with him.....he will pay off in time.

The answer is simply NO.
I believe we don't have that luxury to drop him from the series.
We are already short of batsmen, mind it.

ganguly is still out of form. He has been out of form for a long long time. Take out his stats against Kenya, BD & Zimbabwe and he is averaging slightly higher than the bowlers. And this despite choosing what position he will bat at.

Who said, by keeping out of form Ganguly in, India is doing the right thing? I don't think so. Anyway, I had a replacement for Ashraful in my mind which might sound hilarious to all of you. It's Golla. Although he is not an OD player, but at least he can keep wicket at one end when middle order collapse is a daily routine for BD.
But as a long term solution, BD must produce good OD batsmaen on a regular basis, otherwise we have to get stuck with out of form superstars.

which 5 innings are you talking of ? Well, Ashraful have been struggling at the crease, thats for sure. It's quite uncharacteristic of him to bat with such hardships, especially against a very weak bowling attack. Mind you, it's the same Ashraful who played some brilliant knocks against superior bowling attacks. His 158 against India in the 2nd test indeed stands as the most dominating innings ever played by a BD batsman. Although Shahriar's 39 versus Pakistan in WC 99 against the likes of Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib and Azhar Mahmood was another gem!
