What he meant, me thinks, was world class players.
By the way, do we have ANY?

enough with the potentials...

Ash, Abtab (though his form is making me feel insecure as I am mentioning his name), Tamim and maybe Zunaid (with a question mark because he hasn't shown that he can play spin well).

We have low class player
Siddons is not good at parts of speech.
He used the adjective before noun but forgot to use adverb before adjective

Ashraful for one is a world class player...give him time to mature, he has the shots but will learn to curb his enthusiasm in time. Much like Aravinda who had a average first half of his career (1984-94), but came good in the second half (1995-2000)

Ditto
My thinking. So he suddenly learn this. We know that very well. Except Rajib and Rajjak (in ODI) do we have anyone who would be even rated as class let alone world class

Graeme Smith, SA captain, in a recent inverview in Dhaka called Ashraful, an uncut black diamond. He, a professional, gave his lip services, filled the expectation and business of the media and the fans, and then he moved on. But Ashraful is still there where he was, languishing. JS did the same thing. BD players should prove their class on the field, not by being assessed by anyone, to avoid a potential embarrassment to themselves and to the country.

I don't think any coach can make a player classy. Thats something that you are born with. Either you have it or you don't. What a coach can do is if he spots a classy, talented, young player, he can guide him through to fine tune his game, both mentally and physically. Above all, it has to come from the player first.

Interesting to find him commenting this way. Unsure about the outcome. It may work, or it may backfire.

Looks like Ashraful's English has improved at a far more rapid rate than his batting has.

He spoke quite well in that video.

Aravinda averaged almost 15 runs more in his first 45 tests than Ashraful has.

Talent in BD? Yes I believe that is true...But there are all so Talent in all other cricketing nations too..Regards to world class players in BD? No, I don't agree with JS on this occasion, there are no world class players in BD right now...Only Rafiqe was a world class bowler...

class players? in ODIs maybe not in test cricket though. razzak and rasel are class and mash maybe just fits into the category, tamim has recently started to act classy but we don't know if it will last or not, riyad in his small amount of matches has been class with the bat but again we don't know whether he will continue with it or not.

ashraful is not world class, it's not just about talent, you have to put numbers up to be world class and ashraful doesn't do that often enough. most if not all players in the BD national squad have the potential to be class, not elite world class but world class.

i agree with Gowza. But I also have a feeling Siddons thinks low of our bunch and doesn't really see much potential for improvement. Not good. And he's supposed to direct them. OF course our players are careless. But I wouldn't tell everyone how crap we are and how this is still the only talents we got in every press conference, if I was coach

This is what Siddons said about not having too many world class players, before the series beagn:

"Working with Australia, we had 11 world class players there. At Bangladesh have two to three right now and the rest all have the potential to be world class players, so we have a good mix. But I'm looking forward to the next few years. We will be a good side by then. We're looking right now for consistency. Everyone says we are inconsistent but we would like to prove that wrong in this series."

I don't think there's anything wrong with what he said and most things he said were right and made sense. If he can get our batsmen to perform more consistently, the wins will come by itself. We've got a young team and hopefully Siddons can mould them into world class players.

Ashraful speaks a lot better. The improvement's been pretty rapid - wish the same could be said about his batting.

Hoping for a big one today.
