Shakib Al Hasan (Man of the Match): "We knew that this was going to be tricky as we were playing almost after a year. That is why we chose to bat. We were short by 20 runs. Spinners bowled exceptionally well today. The rule in our team is to take the game close. Tamim played really well. Those partnerships helped us score 265 runs."

Phew.

Well done, Afghanistan.

Experience and the bowlers learning and adjusting in the end made the difference.

Shakib's last over was the turning point.

Scored too few in the last 10 overs, and fielding was poor. Lack of int'l, competitive matches with good bowling can be blamed for the former, not sure about the latter since they were fielding in domestic cricket.

It was exciting but it was a poor show from us, understandably so but I can't get over the poor fielding and batting from 6-8.

Imrul, Riad dropped catches, a few misfields here and there. Unfortunately, Mosaddek was ousted despite his performance in domestic and practice matches.

I think the option with sabbir down the order so late is unresourceful.

I'm gonna go out of the box and offer a plea, quite generously, of sending Sabbir to open the batting with Tamim.

Nasir and Mosaddek in for Soumya and Imrul.

I'm open for suggestions and criticisms.

Fire away!!!!

Dude, if anyone from middle order can open, thats mahmudullah and mushy. They like to build tgeir innings and take their time. Maybe soumya can come in at 6 and smack while sabbir takes #3

Okay, I see this as progress...Bangladesh have got to step away from this conventional lineup. The goal is for one batsman to bat all through the 50 overs.

Have to involve Mossadek somehow. But no other wicket keeper in bench or in the team this time around? That is weird.

Would like someone to replace Mushfiqur.

Take kayes out or soumya and add Mossadek. We have too many accumulators hence I feel Kayes isn't needed. And don't give me excuse how his innings was out savior. We don't live in 2005-2010 era, getting easy satifsied.

Mosadekh needs a go. I'd take Kayes out, bat Mosadekh 3.

That partnership by the two Afghanistan batsmen ran out of gas at the wrong time. They should analyze that thoroughly and knew that for much of that chase, they were ahead and on course for the win.

Bangladesh on the other hand should look to create pressure early on and forcing the batsmen to play those high risk shots.

The second will be tighter than this one.

Missed the second innings, but wow didn't think we would win only by 6 runs.

I did not think we would win at all.

Like Shakib said, it was the inexperience of Afghan side that let us get away with a win.

I'd been waiting for 6 months to see Taskin's supposedly "remodelled" action...as I had suspected back in March, its IDENTICAL to the one which Chennai banned him with.

Unless Taskin gets banned again soon, Brisbane it would appear missed the memo.

It was really an unfair ban, you would have to examine his "slower bouncer" delilvery before and after...i think he only bowled that delivery once today(which got him a wicket) I don't remember specifically an instance where he bowled a "slower bouncer" prior to Wt20...but worth examining, otherwise, all his other deliveries are perfectly fine so it should be no surprise that everything else would be identical since those were legal deliveries to begin with anyways...

Yeah, the slower bouncer he bowled today was clean. He bowled one at the death vs Scotland in the World Cup match in NZ last year...have to check if that one was clean too...looking for the footage.

But we don't know for sure which delivery they banned him for. We just know that only some of his deliveries were found illegal. We have heard "bouncers" and specifically "slow bouncers".

Found it...its at 4:00 in the video...from that video it appears as though his slower ball bouncer was clean in 2015 and also it was clean today as well. Given how seldom he bowls it (I'd be surprised if he's even used it 30 times in his entire career), I highly doubt it would have changed in a mere 12 months and then required another 6 months to remodel.

It is reasonably clear Taskin, assuming the Brisbane test was accurate, that Taskin never chucked to begin with.
