At clutch Shafiul is leagues above Mash...
Rubel is another one of those.

Are they picking Shafiul for that retro-lower-order partnership between him and Riyad?

Hence Shafiul.

That's my theory at least.
That makes the most sense out of all other things I have read so far on this forum. Let's see how Shafiul does and whether he can justify his selection.

How big a factor is the weather going to play here? I hope the game is not reduced to 20 overs a side but facilities are top notch I guess

Bangladesh is playing ODI after a while and I did not see any of our batsmen being consistantly scoring big scores in recent times. On the other hand Afghanistan is very familiar with Asian conditions. Afghanistan has such talents that on their day they can beat any team in the world. I wont be surpirsed at all if Bangladesh loses the series against Afghanistan.

Hatursinghe feels that the first hour in this first match would be 'vital' in shaking off the rust gathered by BD team after 6 months inactive.

Mashrafe wants to play all-out attacking cricket as one beloved commentator would call it, 'right from the word go'.

Afghanistan's coach, Lalchand Rajput is banking on his bowling attack to deliver.

So in summary, Bangladesh win toss, bat first....first hour of play, flay the bowling of the Afghans and immediately rustiness will go away and Bangladesh will be back to the dominant side in ODIs that we have come to enjoy over the past 20 months....

All prophecizing aside, Bangladesh shouldn't let the Afghans feel at home. Nothing more than a win is expected...and shake down Shahzad off the high horse he has been riding all year!!!

Go Tigersssss

4 pronged pace attack will be ideal then...Mashrafe, Taskin, Shafiul, Rubel...if one of them lags, then break free with Souyma who can notch it up in the mid-70 mph max...

Sabbbir can bowl lollipop leggie to Shahzad and Asghar who aren't afraid to come down the track...Mushfiqur will celebrate before even executing the stumping...Mash will let out a few expletives and try to chest bump Taskin, who will leave the game to undergo testing at the nearest hospital for a broken rib or two....hehe

Mash will need 3 to level with Abdur Razzak, 4 to get past him.

Perhaps not in day time, but under flood lights, when air cools down, expect to see some swing.

I hope we will win the toss and bat first.

You still didn't add Taskin. I thought Taskin ahmed was included later in the team. There was a 14 th member slot open for him in case he gets approval from icc. And as soon as he was cleared he was added as 14th playing member.
