Lessons Learned - Game 1 vs Afg
Short Term:
1. Bring Mosaddek/Nasir - rest Soumya. He needs to work on his temperament. I would probably bring Nasir cause of his bowling - especially if the track is going to behave like today.
2. Move Kayes from slip. If my memory serves me right, he dropped catches there before too. We need to find someone more agile. Also revisit field placement in general.
3. Impose if you are set, try to stay till the end.
4. Rotate strikes, Afghan boys showed how its done for 46 overs of their innings.
Long Term:
1. Hire a fielding coach
2. Find another opener for God sakes - Imrul and his khocha cant be the best we can do. I refuse to accept.
3. Work on line and length - 13 wides is unacceptable.
4. Lower order should practice hitting a six or 2. Our tail after Mash looked bleak!

Lesson learned: no complacency. Sometimes it takes class like shakib's to remind them that control of the game and situation need to be optimal.
This should be addressed

Keep Soumya. Need his fielding. Especially after today, where I can see that these guys have lost their fielding gusto. Need the new age athletic types like Soumya to keep em honest.
And don't count on your lower order to bail you out. We picked a batter heavy side, and yet how can we expect more of our tail enders?
Other than that, I more or less agree with all points made. Especially the extras. We used to concede very few extras. What happened? Make Bangladesh bowlers tidy again.

If we take out Soumya to accommodate Nasir then we will be getting a fielder as capable as Soumya on the field. Plus Nasir's spin will be very handy in our condition. Soumya should be the 12th man so that we can field him if/when necessary.
Soumya is a special player, but he is horribly out of form.

I would keep Soumya. ODI is his format and he will definitely come good eventually. Just needs to fine tune some things. I will give him this series and see what he can do.
Imrul needs to go overall. We can definitely do better than him. Mosaddek needs to be given a chance.

I also feel thats what happen when you have too much of biryani and meat. Poor fielding poor bowling at the end Rubel didn't have any energy to bowl.

The team looked really rusty which is expected as they haven't played in a while. Hope next game they improve in all departments. We were pretty lucky to win this game

- Performer like Al-Amin need to be in the team.
- By this time Rubel should perform more consistently.
- The sooner we try Mosaddek, the better it is for the team
- Mashrafee still manage to provide something with his bowling
- When will get a real wicket keeper?
- What is the master plan with Mahmudullah's bowling? Is he indeed our 5th bowler?
Then we need to try him few overs in every possible games.
- Is Taijul our next specialized spinner in ODI? I would like to see more of him.
- Don't know what to say bout Imrul. He may stick around longer than some fans liking.
My take: lack of competitor/alternative and just enough performance is keeping him alive.

Imrul should be dropped and replaced with Nasir or Mossadek as they both add a spin option the Afghans are struggling against and much better fielders. Even with Nasirs poor batting form he'll still be able to score quickfire 20s through singles than waste 50 deliveries edging his way through to a 30 score.
As for the tail, Taijul has potential and I believe with the physique Taskin has he can get some good boundaries if he knew the basics of timing and aiming

You need your best batsman at 3. You just cant have a speed breaker in the name of Imrul in this position. Either open with him instead of somya or dont play him at all. Personally, I would stick with Somya for the rest of the series. Play Nasir at 7 for his allrounding abilities. I would also play shakib at 6 for his hitting prowess and running between the wickets. I think Shakib and Nasir will complement each other well in the during the death overs.
My team would be:
Tamim
Somya
Sabbir
Riyad
Mushfiq
Shakib
Nasir
Mashrafee
Taijul
Rubel
Taskin

I think we ll bounce back. Clearly the players seemed to lack match fitness, appeared rusty. The close finish should also erode any complacency.
But having said that i would like to see Sabbir at 3. Total waste at 7. Maybe selectors could have tried out Mosharraf instead of Taijul.

Agree. If/when SS gets back his form, we will have an explosive top 3 ( TI, SS, S) that will set up the platform with very good SR. Then we will have the experienced middle order who can take advantage of the situation.
That being said, I wouldn't mind to experiment with Moseddek in top order (#3, #4) in Afganistan series and see what he can provide.

Tamim/Riyad/Shakb are still the core of the batting unit.

Sabbir can easily fit into that core. He has this ability to occupy crease, bat for long periods. Absolute waste having him at 7.
