I can't remember the last time I used to sit and wait for a batsman to walk in. I really can't. Soumya from the moment I saw him bat, I have wanted to see more and more and more. Taskin is one of them, and from the moment I saw Soumya, I truly and with all my felt Soumya is another one of them. I don't know yet if I am wrong, but it does break my heart to see him fail and fail and fail and when Bangladesh needs him the most. A world cup has gone by and another major important tourney coming in 2017 for Bangladesh.

What does he really need to do? I can't think of anything the coaching stuff or he hasn't tried. The time for trying is almost coming to an end and I honestly hope and pray he doesn't let me down. I miss the old Soumya, the one I knew and the one we all know. He needs one big score. One match can turn it around. We need Soumya more than he needs us. This is how I watch Bangladeshi matches now, switch on Tv from 1-10 overs, if Soumya is there watch till he lasts or watch the last 5 overs. I really don't watch any other batsman. It is the honest truth ladies and gentlemen. That is how much he has had an impact on me batting wise. Sure I watch Taskin bowl. But as I said I truly find pleasure in watching him bat.

He broke into the national team without showing any consistent performance. His average was not even decent when got into the national team. Since he could bowl medium pace, which is the main reason why he was included in the national team just before world cup. What we saw from him since the World Cup was out of his ordinary norm performance and expected he would continue like that. However, he is not able deliver because he is just an ordinary player. Now look at his season by season List A performance. He was never a consistent performer.

No..man. if you look at his batting, you feel there is something that is different from others. He's specially talented. He has special strokeplay quality and thats bi-born, you cant just practice and have it. Sometimes stats don't justify ones talent.
It's more appropriate if you say he's very talented and skilled player with poor temperament.
As i stated before he's one of those Ashrafuls.

His identity is not someone who has a "different name" and let's be honest for a second here nor his religion. His identity is someone who is an excellent stroke-playing batsman. A BANGLADESHI batsman.

Not sure if it was another player - shriek Ashraful- who would make a litany of poor performances yet anyone would raise an eyebrow. And a single or two bad performances, all of a sudden everyone is hating on him.

I think Mashrafee missed a trick by not letting Soumya bowl in these pitches, his medium pace may be deceptive and may pick up wickets...

Huh? Soumya prefers to play on the legside (and in his current poor form seems to be only hitting there) which is the exact opposite of Ganguly.

Gangs played those legside hoicks too, but much later in his innings when he was well set.

And as bowlers... believe it or not Ganguly could really swing the ball when conditions were right.
