Its bad luck for Zimbabwe that Rainsford is not there. I just read that he has a minor tumb injury, and MAY join the tour party when he recovers.

Hey guys, they have selected alot of allrounders, to improve their batting lineup. This means, that Shahriar Nafees must score centuries, if we are to win. Notice, that I named Shahriar Nafees, cause he is the only dependable batsman in our side.

Bangladeshi Batting Averages vs Zimbabwe:

Javed Omar: 210 runs @ 30.00 (HS 69)
Shahriar Nafees: 371 runs @ 92.75 (HS 123*)
Rajin Saleh: 323 runs @ 29.36 (HS 77)
Habibul Bashar: 563 runs @ 31.27 (HS 74)
Aftab Ahmed: 308 runs @ 30.80 (HS 81*)
Mohammad Ashraful: 310 runs @ 22.14 (HS 51*)
Farhad Reza: 95 runs @ 23.75 (HS 50)
Saqibul Hasan: 66 runs @ 66.00 (HS 36)
Khaled Mashud: 292 runs @ 22.46 (HS 51)
Mohammad Rafique: 242 runs @ 16.33 (HS 72)

Absolutely everyone's batting average up there (except for Farhad Reza) is better than their overall career batting average. Meaning they play Zimbabwe really well.

I'm sure not only Shahriar Nafees will shine but everyone else too It'll be a really good series.

Cricinfo: Injuries leave Zimbabwe exposed

Zimbabwe's selectors have named a 15-man squad for their forthcoming tour of Bangladesh, but injuries have robbed the side of much-needed experience.

The emphasis is on slow bowling. In addition to Prosper Utseya, who retains the captaincy, three other slow bowlers - Sean Williams, Ryan Higgins and Keith Dabengwa - have been picked "especially for the subcontinent conditions" according to the board.

But injuries have left an already raw side looking even more inexperienced. The biggest loss will be Ed Rainsford, their best new-ball bowler, who has fractured his right thumb, although he might still be able to join the squad towards the end of the tour. Former captain Terry Duffin has undergone surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left thumb and will not be able to resume training until mid December.

In addition, Tawanda Mupariwa has been carrying a knee injury since the tour of the Caribbean in May while Tafadzwa Mufambisi was hit by a ball on his left forearm during a practice match at the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy and is in plaster.

Tino Mawoyo is the only uncapped player in the side. The former Under-19 captain has been in good form in domestic cricket for Harare Sports Club.

Zimbabwe squad Prosper Utseya (capt), Gary Brent, Chamu Chibhabha, Elton Chigumbura, Keith Dabengwa, Ryan Higgins, Anthony Ireland, Blessing Mahwire, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Tinotenda Mawoyo, Christopher Mpofu, Mluleki Nkala, Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams.

yeah Zim exposed fo sho...but i think the real loss is not having Vusi in the side..i'm sure Mpofu can do us a good job in the absence Rainsford. Mpariwa is our best fast bowler but he hasnt been doing well lately because of injury. The team is full of allrounders not genuine all-rounders though but almost all of them can do a little bit of both so that will give more options to Utseyalitharan:ha: .Brandon Taylor will definetly open the batting so the Taylor-Mortaza battle is on the cards this whole series. Zim line-up will look spmething like this...

1.Taylor-----------wckt
2.Chibhabha------bat&bow
3.Masakadza------bat&bow
4.Matsikenyeri----bat&bow
5.Nkala-------------bat&bow
6.Brent-------------bat&bow
7.Sean--------------bat&bow
8.Chigumbura------bat&bow
9.Utseya------------bat&bow
10.Ireland-----------bow
11.Mpofu------------bow

I dont see any reason why Zim should complain if they loose coz despite the injury setbacks ...this squad is bad news.
Nafees and Bashar are the main batting pillars, Aftab has been inconsistent against us lately and when he does find form he gives it away in the 40s.
Ashraful is our man, Ireland will tame that out of form tiger.
I dont think Zim will have problems in the bowling but batting in the sub-continent region will prove difficult.

Zimbabwe have one real quality batsman, and that is Taylor. If he doesn't open, the coach should be sacked... well, maybe just be spoken to, because Curran has actually got some results

I agree, Sibanda not in the lineup is a real loss, I would really like to see Taylor/Sibanda open, because they have the potential to put on 100 for the first wicket.

I can't wait to see how Gary Brent goes, the side desperately needed experience, and he's the man to provide that. If he could take 2/3 wickets a game and add about 20 with the bat per match, it could get them over the line.
