Within 10 years Bangladesh will be better than Sri Lanka and Challanging us(Pak) and India

For those who have followed cricket for a while, you will remember how Sri Lanka was regarded as a joke 20 years ago.

But now the can mix it with the best teams. Have 4 for the best batsmen in the world and the leading wicket taker.

I was impressed by the batting talent Bangladesh had. Its just they lacked the temperament for Test cricket. Playing the 5 day game like it was a T20 was never going to work. However this is problem of focus rather than ability and can be rectified.

Bangladesh has 7 times the population of Sri Lanka and in 10 years I see them playing at the highest level.

In 10 years?? With all due respect mate, in 10 years time, we will not be challenging India or Pakistan, we would regularly winning matches against them.

I hope the 1 2 3 4 of cricket would belong to the subcontinent teams.

Are you talking about Test/ ODI/ both ??

If you are talking about both form of the game then 10 years is okay.

But if you are talking about ODI format then My friend, we wont need 10 years to challenge Pakistan, SL and Ind. If we can maintain the pool of players that we have considering National team and Under 19 team for next 5 years, we will be more than a challenging side. and I can guarantee you that, Bangladesh will be considered as one of the favorite teams in 2019 WC along with other big teams.

I'll speak what I think are the bitter facts.

answer to the thread : not unless the domestic cricket season is revamped and the selectors start looking at stats for selecting players and not just feelings about who they feel are the most talented on the basis of one good innings.

(speaking of tests only)

These are silly comments, like someone pointed out in pakistani forum india has 8 times the population of Aussie. India has 55 times the population of Sri Lanka.

What people dont know is, for last 30 years almost half the country was under the control of LTTE rebels and no one were permitted to play cricket since LTTE was fighting for seperate home land. They feared that letting people play sport with schools in south or to have social interactions with them only weaken LTTE rebels cause.

In fact most of our current players are from Colombo or surrounding areas. As we start to play with schools and club from North and East there will be more competition which will be good or us.

No offence but Sri Lanka are a much better side than Pakistan right now. I think Pakistan cricket needs a total revamp. What is going on is pretty funny after every series Pakistan fans are like get rid of this player and when his replacement fails they are like him get him back. It's like an ongoing circle.

to be honest - what we need are some quality coaches for every one of our under ages starting from 14 to ingrain it into their mind the correct shot selections.

I don't think it will take us 10 years to challenge Pakistan.
The way Pakistan is playing, we can not only challenge them, But I'm sure we are capable of winning against them!
