Default Still no CEO, no NCL (50 over) next year, no club tournament, no planning on how to stop the resignation spree, WC venue contruction not started ....

http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesig...php?nid=139217

BCB beating around the bush

Sports Reporter
So the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to let the media know of a couple of decisions, one of which was actually executed more than a month ago.
At the end of the 18th meeting on Tuesday, it was decided that there would be no one-day competition of the National Cricket League (NCL) and the National Club Cup Championship.

The fate of this year's NCL one-day competition was actually decided nearly two months ago when the board had opted for the NCL T20s instead. And it was always widely known that it would not be held, given the time and venue constraints at the late stage of the cricket season.

But the board directors found this already buried issue important enough. So important that they discussed it in the meeting and released a statement, at a time when other major issues need dialogue, debate and decisions.

It was learnt that the recent resignation of two key persons of the board was discussed in the meeting but as was the case, no concrete decision was reached. The decision-making was similar when the board directors talked about the impending expiry of the national selectors' contracts.

The meeting also didn't give any clear indication of the appointment of the CEO, a post that has been vacant for the last three years.

For the record, BCB cited the ongoing construction work at major venues for the upcoming World Cup as one of the reasons for dropping the two events. They also considered the weather-factor with the monsoon approaching and felt that the top cricketers of the country needed time to recover as they are coming off a long and busy domestic and international season.

The last explanation makes someone believe that the BCB is perhaps the only cricket board in the world that exclusively thinks of the top cricketers and not those professionals who earn their bread and butter through this game. Last time we checked, most of them made up the NCL one-day teams and not the top cricketers.

yeah so what else is new...i say the DPL should start a 4-day league and then send a petition to the ICC or MCC for FC/List A status.

the NCL just sucks, we should throw it in the rubbish bin with the ICL.

T_E bhai, ur title says "WC venue construction not started ..... ....."

i Dont agree on this one .... ....

some development process has started in SNBS. the front area, where used to be chotpoti fuchka and people sitting and roaming in evening has been evacuated. its now store of lots of bricks, sand and other building materias. i have seen brick crusher machine in operation and also buldozer and those kinds of heavy machines also operating for the last two weeks. any way i will try to go and visit the place if possible today afternoon/evening to find some more news.

may be we are late and also lot behind the schedule, but at least some work has started.

about CEO, NCL (ODI), DPL club tournament and others issues, very sad news

BCB is in complete 'Ghola Jol' and that is the intention of BCB as well. Because they can fishes in that water.

World cup preperation will as usually start at the 11th hour, so that on emergency ground, it can be awarded with shortcut procedure to the 'Bhatijas' and the officials can earn a few bucks in 'Ghola Jol'.

Hell ya it is. He said he doesn't have to power to tell the board how to spend their money, and now the board is all pissed off so they probably decided not to spend any of the money.

Bangladesh cricket is just going backwards. Look at our A-team. Horrible performance against South Africa and West Indies A teams in our own conditions. And it's always the same mistakes. Ridiculous. I don't even know who to blame anymore.
