the answer lies in the afridi style slogs that he used to come up with on a regular basis with the team at 2/3 down even before the opposition bowlers warmed themselves up.
besides, the fact remains that there's nobody in the current team who deserves to be thrown out. Rokon got his chances - he just didn't make proper use of them. All the coaches liked him - he just didn't do anything to keep their trust. Same goes to Hannan.
However, Rokon may come in if he can prove that he will not play danguli once he's called into the team again.

A lot of ppl around here talk without considering things seriously.
The thing is, last world cup cricket was in tv and most of the guys are still living on that performance. We needed a escape goat for our miserable performance and it is Rokon that we have chosen, cause he is different from others. He is an extremely talented cricketer in a bunch of mediocres and we completely misusing him.
1. Rokon does not slog like Afridi. Mind it, he was always the favorite batsman of all the foreign coaches. So do u think, coaches are stupid enough to make a slogger their favorite batsman?
2. The year he was dropped, his highest score was 70 odd runs against SA in SA in the test match. That was the time when Pollock was in his pick form and Rokon was the opener. And also this is bd cricketers highest score against Aus/SA in quality pitch in Aus/SA.
3. Everyone played miserably in World Cup, everyone got more than 1 chances (even without proving themselves by good score), whereas, this guy scored a blistering century against zbwe, then 160 odd runs in the next league game, and was not even considered in the A team!
after the zbwe match, all the Rokon haters said, he played too fast, too many strokes, so he was not picked in the test squad. Now it is ODI time, Kapali is chosen, what is your reason for not choosing Rokon?
Imran
( I am so surprised to read some of the baseless comments)

yes, exactly. a 150 odd inning against a weak league team is not enough to get back to the national team. As for his inning against Zim, I'd say he has to repeat that performance a couple times before claiming a place in the national team.
|
Why does he have to repeat that performance a couple of times? Has any Bangladeshi player ever repeated that kind of performance against any test team? Have they even done it once? Even Ashraful's awesome innings(although against a better team) wasn't that destructive.
Can you imagine how the Zimbabuwe's players will feel when they will see him walking in? Yes, those 18 year old kids with impressionable mind will be terrified.
Why do you expect more from people you don't like?
|
Because Rokon has proved us wrong too many times, and his inning came at a time when we already have a bunch of players who are doing pretty well. There is nobody in the current team who can be dropped to bring Rokon in, unless he totally convinces everyone that he's not going to screw up this time.
|
Who has not proved us wrong too many times? How aweful was Alok? Even Ashrafu/Raji Saleh? Why would Rokon has to play 150 odd innings more than once to get into the team.? Who else in the current team has scored 150 in any league match? A stroke maker can get out cheaply but if u drop him again and again (that's what we did in his whole career) and stick with players like Golla (will stay in the crease but you will never win in ODI) then we will never see ODI victory against quality teams.
For some reason Faruq hates Rokon.

I don't think he will get any more chance. He already got enough chances.
