Thanks for sharing the link here. We need as many signatures as possible. Lots of people from India & Nepal have signed. We need Bangladesh to join in as well. Let ICC see the power of us fans. Our target is to send this petition to ICC before their annual meeting in 2018, so we are looking to get as many signatures as possible by Jan-Feb 2018
There is no fixed amount of teams suggested. Just that we have suggested minimum of 14 teams. Maximum can be anything. Ideal amount is 16-20 to have cricket crazy countries like Nepal & PNG play in the World cup, atleast from 2023

Yes, the size of the World cup is too small. Its a WORLD CUP. It should be a BIG cup so that it takes two plays to hold it.

So should be 15inches or 17 inches, the wider it is more beer the players can drink out of it.

It should be 16 teams. There is a lot of nations that have been improving in cricket lately from Nepal, Papua New Gunea to the US. So, to do justice to improving teams:
Group Stage (4 Teams/group, 4 groups)
|
-->Knock out Quarter Finals
|
-->Knockout Semi Finals
|
-->Knock out Finals
Total games : (6*4) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 31.
Total games in 2011/2015 CWC = 49.
The 8 team round robin to me felt stupid in the 2007 WC, it should have been straight to knockout rounds. World Cup doesn't have to necessarily be all teams versing each other.. Learn something from FIFA (for once).
I feel like this will never materialize because all the Big-3 are afraid that a "minnow" team will knock them out of the cup, as the 7 team round robin makes it hard for one team to go through to the next rounds on an upset, but to me that brings more excitement to the cup.

2011 & 2015 WCs had 14 teams and were both commercially succesful too. For 2019, there was no need to change something which was working fine

Sadly this format will make WC too short. Better to have 18 teams in 3 groups of 6, followed by knockouts. 8 teams will make it to QF, so the best 2 3rd placed teams qualify. Or a additional match between 2nd & 3rd best 3rd placed teams can be added to have knockouts, in which case knockout stage will be same as ICC KO 1998 which had 9 teams
Total matches = (15*3) + 1 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 53 matches and can be done in about 35-40 days and have each match important. Associates also get 5 matches each, 3 of them against established full members + 1 against a new full member + 1 against fellow associate, which gives them enough matches to make a mark
For big teams, they will try to finish in the top 2 and ensure qualification for QF and all matches will be important with as many as 26 of 53 matches being between 2 full members

The reason this petition is useless is because the whole point of reducing the world cup teams was to maximize the number of games India will play (and Indians will watch). That's what happens when a sport is monopolized by one country.
You can ask to increase it 18 or 20, but the questions is: how many games will India play? And if the increased number leads to a longer WC, how many bilaterals will India lose in their calendar because of it?

World cup should be a world cup. 14 teams in 2x7 format means 7 guaranteed matches (6 group stage + expected QF) and 49 total matches, 16 teams in 2x8 format means 8 guaranteed matches (7 group stage + expected QF) and 63 total matches, 18 teams in 3x6 format meand 6 guaranteed matches (5 group stage + expected QF) and 53 total matches
14 team format was massively succesful in 2011 & 2015. 10 team format will be far too long and have lots of dead rubbers and will flop badly in 2019

I agree that 10 teams will be a far too long and I'm no fan of it. But what it does is maximize the number of games India is guaranteed to play (and Indians are the main drivers at these world cups). Just look at the 2015 world cup semis, 80% of the fans at the stadium were Indians and Australia was the home team. On that basis alone, 10 team world cup will be more financially viable than the 14 team WC.
It's not about what creates an exciting and fun product. It's about what generates the most revenue.

Clicked on the link and read the opinions of some players:

Sachin Tendulkar - "ICC's decision to reduce the number of teams in the 2019 World Cup is a backward step in the global expansion of cricket and the lack of consistent matches available to Associate sides is "unfair" "

LOL Buhjee.
In the case of the world cup 14 or 16 would be good.
Play morning and night matches the same day.

By 2050, I hope the monopoly is broken and we have 64 team WC.

in 100+ years we managed to find at most 14-16 teams in cricket whom we can pass forward as a cricket team.
I dont think in 50 years we'll find 50 more teams

I have a brilliant scheme to kickstart cricket in North America.
Invite them into the WC let them win against a Test playing nation. That should give cricket a much needed kick, and inject some self believe into the Cricket team of the USA.
But the difficult part is which team will take the sacrifice.

It has not been proven, instead the 14 team WC will always be more finanically viable and can help in spreading cricket. What if India loses 4 matches out of their 1st 6 and are knocked out of WC. Last 3 matches will be meaningless and won't generate revenue. 10 team WC has full recipe for a disaster with too many meaningless matches & dead rubbers and a WC which will drag on for 48 days
14 team WC was a short WC with a easy to understand format and gave all teams 6 matches with 4 of them going to knockouts. Every match mattered and there were hardly any dead rubbers
