BCB Knows!
Here are some interesting parts from the DS's Abahani-Mohamedan cricket match report.
Quote:
"The reality is that they (national players) have hardly any commitment. You have to be hungry for runs and you have to play for yourself first. A national player should show his class in domestic circuit but unfortunately, none could do it. It's funny that out of four, not a single batsman scored a fifty," said Minhajul.
|
Quote:
"And it seems that they have appeared at the ground for the roll-call. If one national player can't make more than five fifties in ten matches, then how we would differentiate him from an average cricketer?" questioned the frustrated former national skipper.
|
Quote:
"It was really frustrating the way our national players played in this match and I have doubt about their seriousness," said Aminul.
|
Quote:
He praised Nafees for a brilliant innings that turned the match in their favour but was not fully satisfied about the left-hander's efforts.
"I must say Nafees played sensibly to win the match for us but the question is why he and Nadif failed to finish the job. It could have been a different story after they threw away their wickets in the last moment," he added.
|
Most interesting comment came from an ex BCB official Mahbub Anam
Quote:
According to Mahbubul Anam, former cricket board general secretary and an influential Mohammedan official, 'lack of knowledge' is the reason behind the gloomy feature.
"Whatever it is, commitment or any other thing, all comes from the head," said the bearded organiser after the match.

Yup!! The national players including the skipper needs to hear more of these from the head officials. Incentive based pay scale should motivate them. When faith is little, money talks, always!!

You don't have to be an BCB officlial to know this. I have been saying this for long time now they lack of proper cricketing knowledge...

Not only BCB, every body else also knows it... its includes Fans, Sport Writer and the player themselves.
Unless we (all of us, BCB, Fans and writers) do make them accountable for their lack of performance in the domestic league ( as well as internationl games) as a mesuring stick for their next slection to the national team, this 'natok' will continue.
Just see the other thread about fans starting 11 for PAK series. Guess what? One of the few top performer was out of the list from most of the fans list even he got one MOM in the last series.
Do you think players are that dumb? They pretty well knows what they "need to do" and what "they not necessarily need to do" to keep their position in the team. This is the rule that we created and our smart superstars are exactly playing by the rule.
So why blame them now?
Its time for us to rectify. There is no point to say (or complain) one thing and then we do exactly the other thing.
Bottom line, the basic problem is with us, players are just dispalying the symptom (of the problem).

"Everybody" knows what to do, they all think "somebody" will do it, but in the end,
"Nobody" ends up doing it.

90% of cricket is played within our brains. So first up, we need to tighten up our screws !

Ya, and the brain functions well and remains commited when one doesn't have to think of basic needs. Then the need becomes name, fame, pride etc etc which brings out the best from an individual.

Most of the time Abahani Mohammedan game is a low scoring tension packed match. Players, officials and supporters are under severe mental pressure . Mahbub Anam, Nannu and Bulbul's performances were not difft. from today's stars in a big match like this!!!

I still remeber days when a herioc bulbul or Nannu used to play knocks to make them win. I think Ashraful needs to be dropped due to his performance in last so many matches. including domestic and international matches. That will send clear signal once again to all non performing players

"A 'star-less' Premier League is usually ridiculed as boring and unappealing but what of a league with non-performing stars?"

And?
What did these big head officials do for pre-match preparations? I seriously doubt if there was any activity called 'big match preparations' ... which should be done by these officials on their physical presence. Such as analysis of opponent, set up game plan, sit and talk with players on batting, bowling, fielding according to game plan etc. Are those officials followed these phases and process on their physical presence? I seriously doubt it!
Any jodu, modu kodu can blame players for dismal performance at the end of a day, but if that happening for years ... its officials who should be blamed at first! They are not doing their job right! isn't it obvious?

Of course BCB knows. Even a three year old knows. But knowing is not enough.

I dont think BCB knows. If it isnt in the national news paper headlines,,, they dont care either. Circket is not all that important to this government body. They are just doing their operating tasks and passing days. There is no passion, there is no plan, there is no accountability. How can a Major Chameli, who never even picked up a bat in his life be the Chairman of the board? Who is the secretary,, do we know? Who is the chair of marketing? ( It isnt Rubaba Dowla, she is from Grameen)..When you have a defunct board, who is running the show? You have to rely on the "Shobedhon Nilmoni" Lipu to do everything. And he knows everything but nothing. So, I disagree,,, the board knows nothing and will do nothing. You have to wait until a truly accountable board comes in 2009 (maybe)
