Big issue which needs to be resolved by head and batting coach on an urgent basis. Three things holding us back imo
1) Like aklemalp mentioned-the fitness. Guys like Kayes, Tamim get cramps if they have to run too much. The athleticism is not there at all.
2) Our guys havent mastered the art of placement. They hit the ball hard into the fielders hands, and not in the gaps.
3) Finally the fear factor is there. Too scared to run out of the blocks. AB etc take the first run very quickly, put the pressure on the fielder.
Overall the communication is also very poor, no understanding between batsmen. No plan even. Batsmen seem to be content to be blocking even in T20 games.
New batsmen need to leave a few, block a few to get their eyes in. I remember Steve Tikolo of Kenya used to dab into gaps take singles to get his eye in. His policy was not to waste a delivery, even if he was to get set he would do so by running. 15 years later, not one of our batsmen think like him.
Haturusingha is getting a lot of stick for selection. I think this is an even bigger problem than selection. And sth for which a lot of criticism is due.
