The below is a quote from a recent interview with the Polish President. Now many countries have cozy relations with the US, but its rather for a president to be so much into the bootlicking the US that he admits he wants to have a missile shield in Poland not for his country's benefit, but because its in the USA's (neocons) interest

Was this because of conflict in Georgia?
Yes, that's it. I'm a proponent of this [missile shield] not because I believe Iran will launch a nuclear attack or that this is a tool in the struggle with Russia, but because this deepens the interest of the United States in this area. It's in the interests of my country to have the closest possible relations with the United States.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in building ties with US. I live in a country that is literally America's chamcha. While I don't condone chamchagiri, it does make life a lot easier if you build friendly relations with US rather than fight it (like Iran, Cuba, Venezuela etc) and get US to do your fighting for you. Those that did it like Israel are what I call smart nations.

I applaud this Polish president who chose to enrich his citizen's life by building closer ties to Washinton than hang around with KGB run Kremlin. US is nothing but a fat elephant. You can tame it and use it to fulfill your purposes rather than take the hard way and fight it.

Thats exactly what Muslim countries should do.

You confused the whole issue. There is a difference between :

1) Having friendly relations with USA, like Bangladesh, Australia, and most countries in the world do (except Iran, Cuba etc)

2) Acting like a 2-cent w**** who will do anything for the US, and publicly stating that he wants a missile shield for the USA's benefit, and not Poland's.........

I advocate the former,

I advocate the former,

Well your post number 51 quotes the Polish president saying:

Was this because of conflict in Georgia?

A missile shield in Europe will serve US's interest strategically and Polish interest (and those who chose to take part in it as well) by fending off bad boys in Kremlin. So its not just America's interest but rather mutual interest (Polish AND American).

I remember in days immediately after september 11, Bangladesh offering itself as base when US was contemplating invading Afghanistan. When its time for chamchagiri, any weak country is up for it. Thats just how politics is played.
