Default USA vs Bangladesh :1st Official Practice Match

Tigers play first official practice match today

06/09/2004

The Bangladesh cricket team will play their first official practice match before the ICC Champions Trophy against the United States at Embercourt today.
Bangladesh, who have already played four practice matches – two each against Ireland and Scotland – will play another official practice match against Yorkshire Eleven at the end of this week.
The United States comprising players from West Indies, Pakistan and other nations will not be a pushover side.
Ten of their players out of 14 played first class cricket in Pakistan and West
Indies.
Only West Indies-born Richard Staple and Steve Massiah and Pakistani Rashid Zia and Imran Awan did not play any first class cricket.
Leon Romero is the only player in the squad who was born in the USA but played first class cricket in the West Indies.
The former West Indian Test cricketer Clayton Lambert is also in the squad at the age of 42 years.
Lambert had a Test debut against England in 1991 at the Oval and represented West Indies in five Tests and 11 one-dayers till 1998.

USA squad: Richard Staple, Nasir Javed, Charles Reid, Zamin Amin, Howard Johnson, Aijaz Ali, Mark Johnson, Leon Romero, Naseer Islam, Rohan Alexander, Rashid Zia, Steve Massiah, Clayton Lambert and Imran Awan.

I think Daily Star published the name of the venue, but no news of coverage.

Default Reid left stranded by Hurricane Frances

As if the USA weren't already faced with the daunting prospect of playing one-day internationals against Australia and New Zealand, their preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy have been hampered by Tony Reid, their 42-year-old allrounder, going missing.

With the remainder of the squad in London, a report in today's Guardian revealed that Reid is stranded in Florida as Hurricane Frances wends its way across the state. With much of the area's infrastructure ravaged by the hurricane, there are serious doubts as to whether Reid will make it to the UK in time for Friday's first game against New Zealand at The Oval.

"Three of us left Florida just in time and we drove eight hours to Atlanta to catch a plane to England, but Tony had just returned from Jamaica and wasn't prepared," Faoud Bacchus, the USA coach, told The Guardian . "He won't get out. The airports are still closed, phone lines are down, there might be no electricity and even if you could drive a car, you will struggle to get some gas. He will have to sit tight for at least another 36 hours. We're not confident that he will be here by the weekend."

Slow start but something that can be built on, no wickets at least and that's good

Yeah, no wicket after 10 overs is a good sign.

33 after 10 overs against USA.. I would have preferred at least 60/70 runs even if it meant the loss of 1 or 2 wickets. Come on it's USA bowling we are facing.

That's a bad sign............

If we can't hammer these guys in the first 15 overs than no chance against SA or WI.

Any ideas on weather forecats and pitch conditions? I'm happy with 33 in 10 overs if its overcast and the pitch is damp. But with good weather and a good pitch, this would be a sub par score for a test team in the opening overs.

Don't jump to conclusions, we don't know who their opening bowlers are or about the pitch...0-33 could be an awesome score

Come on "Chinaman", please give us an update on the weather and pitch condition.

We are a little bemused with so low scoring rate........
