Default First year since 2006 we haven't beaten a G8 team

With only Zimbabwe to face in what remains of this year, 2014 becomes the first year since 2006 in which we haven't been able to beat a G8 team in any format.
2007: India, South Africa (ODIs); West Indies (T20I)
2008: New Zealand (ODI)
2009: West Indies (Tests and ODIs)
2010: England, New Zealand (ODIs)
2011: England (ODI); West Indies (T20I)
2012: India, Sri Lanka, West Indies (ODIs)
2013: Sri Lanka, New Zealand (ODIs)
2014: -

Excellent progress!

Sad to say the curve will keep sliding down with the current administration. Cricket needs to be run professionally, not like chamber of commerce or trade association.

With a backward President like the one we have, things will keep sliding backwards. At home we will be able to win or two, maybe the odd whitewash against a struggling team. But whenever we play abroad in testing conditions or in serious matches we will be humbled like how we were in the Caribbean.

2014 is our worst year since we started showing some slight of progress, i.e. 2007!

can't wait till this year is done and face some fresh new challenges!

No accountability or repent for this downfall no responsibility rather a victory sign for getting elected, do they really care? After each series come home, they scolded, after two days go backwards 10 steps and repeat the cycle. Sorry state of our cricket, culture and professionalism.

Yes you're right. I didn't realise that Sri Lanka win was in '06. Very embarrassing for the current establishment.

Those will be T20s, but ICC is not giving any official status to those matches (since India is not participating).

So, we go on a 7 year cycle, right ?
After a disasterous 2006, we had a great 2007, beating india and South Africa in the ODI world cup in West Indies and then beating West Indies in the T20 WC in South Africa.

So, that means we gonna have a great year in 2015 as well.

Ek maghe sheet jae na.
2014 isnt the end of the world you know.

I've never considered 2006 disastrous.

We were trending up up to the 2007 WC:

1) We played 4 Tests and had 1st Innings Lead vs Sri Lanka and Australia in Test Matches. We were competitive in 3 out of the 4, the only exception being the Gillespie 201* and that Test went to 5th day

2) We Whooped Zimbabwe and Kenya vs Losing to Hong Kong and Afganistan

3) We did beat Sri Lanka in an ODI

This is the worst year in a long time, what's worse is the players are more talented than ever before and the core are more experienced than ever, team should be performing the best it ever has.

Disappointed no to win even once when we could've won 5 times.

1) Sri Lanka were 67/8 and we were 114/2.
2) Pakistan were 225/5 chasing 327 with less than 9 overs to go.
3) India 105 all out.
4) India 119/9, rain washed out match.
5) West Indies 34/5 chasing 218.

2014 is not a totally barren year...we drew a test against SL. A test draw for us like a win both in real terms (we gain points, they lose) and in psychological terms (we feel victorious, they feel dejected). Not to mention the effort to draw a test is probably equal to winning 3 ODIs.

But yes results wise its been a poor year.

^^ therefore, it's a poor year.
Sum of two numbers, no matter how you cut and dice, does not change.
