Default Any Update on England Tour Squad?

The National Team for England Tour was supposed to be announced today. It is 8PM in Bangladesh now and the announcement should come by now. Anybody knows any update?

probably the team is not decleared yet. otherwise, someone should have the news by now. if it was announced it would have been about 12 hours ago.

England Tour Squad will be announced tomorrow.

BangladesherKhela.com speculated that Manjarul Rana might not be in the England Squad. If this becomes true..this will be kind of rude. I don't know may be English condition a factor for not including 3 spinners. Man-of-the-Match performance in 2-consecutive matches..and then thrown out of the team....hard to accept this!!

Ha Ha Ha.... another new twist here from Daily Star,

Surprise relief behind the stumps?
Test squad to be named today
Sports Reporter

......
Although the focus for the last few days has been on all-rounder Khaled Mahmud, the selection panel led by Faruque Ahmed is most likely to call for a backup for wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud from outside the preliminary 20.

It was learnt that the four selectors are going to include young stumper Sahagir Hossain in an effort to minimise the workload Mashud during the practice matches leading up to the first Test.
.....

Sahagir had impressed coach Dav Whatmore in India during the Duleep Trophy in February.

If the Khulna boy is included then he will be the third new face in the team after fast bowler Shahadat Hossain Rajib and left-handed batsman Shahriar Nafees.

DailyStar

So another person need to be out if Sahagir is included.

I like the idea of taking 2nd wicket keeper for England tour where we have several practice matches to play. It may be too much for Masud to keep wicket all the matches. In another note, we need to groom our next wicket keepers.

Bad for Shahin that he is gone to Australia.
What happened to Dhiman? Did he get a chance to demonastrate in front of DW?

i dont support saghir's inclusion (if it turns out to be true). relieving mashud of pressure during practice matches? what the hell's wrong with these selectors? we're dropping a probable first eleven for the inclusion of a practice match player? then why not include dhiman - someone with a more realistic chance of making a debut in the next couple of years or so?

If I can recall correctly, Saghir scored couple of handy 40s or 30s during crucial times in Duleep Trophy. His first class average 36.36 with bat is impressive. His keeping stat is also better than Dhiman (as far as numbers are concerned). Most importantly, he impressed DW. Here is his link-

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/PLAYERS/B...SAIN_25047187/

But I agree that Dhiman should be given an equal opportunity to impress DW.

but dhiman has impressed several times in international matches (even in england) though. he has international experience, whereas saghir's performance and experience are more or less limited to the domestic arena.

Dhiman did poorly with bat against Zim A. But right after homecoming he scored a century in NCL. This sequence kind a label him as good enough for domestic league.

Anyway, I really don't have proper knowledge to judge this guy, and, considering his age, it is not the proper time to do it.

Don't forget there are two other youngsters - Shahin and Mushiqur Rahim are also in the race to be the future keeper.

Shahin doesn't have anything other than domestic experience. he should be in the A team first. Rahim is in Australia.

as for dhiman - you have to go further back. he did pretty well as a member of the U-19 side in many places including england, both with the bat and behind the stumps. just one season against Zim-A doesn't say much about his abilities.

however, i'm against picking any of the ones discussed here. i dont think we have a reserve keeper good enough for the national team. however, if we are picking someone for the practice matches, i'm up for either dhiman or mushfique. since mushfique isn't available at the moment, i'd go with dhiman.

If I am correct, Mushfiqur Rahim was the wicketkeeper in Zimbabwe with the A team. Probably he is a better keeper than Dhiman. He is travelling with the U-19 in Auatralia right now.

squad will be decleared tomorrow. yes, at 10AM. that means about 6 hours from now.

things are getting interesting finally. who makes it to the 16 men and who gets a warm goodbye!

it would be also interesting to see how fast we get the news. those of u in dhaka can call any news office to get the squad and post it here. otherwise we'll have to wait for about 24 hours to get it.

anyone in dhaka wanna try it?
