Default Other Participating Country Teams

We are so busy talking about our team, lets talk about other teams too.

First WC in T20 era. Things are looking a bit off from previous WCs. Unlike the last few WCs Aus are not going in as favorites. Teams are well balanced, or I should say, all the teams are going through a bad patch, they are as bad as each other.

Zim, Neth, and SL announced their final squad for WC.

Aus announced that they wont take Shaun Marsh because he can't bowl. Hmm

Here is the Indian squad

ICC World Cup 2011

No Rohit Sharma in World Cup squad

The exclusion of middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma was the major surprise in India's 15-man World Cup squad announced in Chennai. The other bone of contention had been the second specialist spinner's slot, and the selectors have picked both offspinner R Ashwin and legspinner Piyush Chawla, ahead of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha.
More to follow
Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Piyush Chawla, R Ashwin

very strong squad.and see, no emotion in it. no Sreesanth, no Ishant.
Shouldn't our selectors show some guts to be professional enough?

our spinners will have a tough job containing this batting lineup... we must get a few out early with the new ball....

No way bhai. From what I've seen rohit just hasn't done enough to warrant s spot. Kohli on the other hand has shown maturity by playing some good match winning knocks. There should be no question as to why kohli has a spot in the team.

Very unfortunate. I really hope he can play. He's such a great player to watch. Definitely 1 of my favorite players right now.

That is one ridiculously strong batting line up. If any of the guys from that batting line up clicks and rest of the batsman's bats around him, they can easily chase down big target or put up a big target for the opponent.

The Batting of the aussie team looks thin.... I can see Watson and Hussey brothers as the only reliable batters... based on current form the presence of Ponting and Clarke at 3 and 4 could be a problem for australia...

yep... our current squad's dismal performances in the last T-20 worldcup should have given enough evidence to the selectors that we need more hitters....

India- it’s a good team- challenging. Except I thought Rohit Sharma i.e 1 more batsman instead of Chawla would do for em. As they really don’t need 3 spinners. There are already part time spinners - like yuvraj, Raina and shewag.

I hope Tamim does his homework coz Munaf has improved his line and length a lot these days and is hard to score of as he bowls wicket to wicket; Praveen kumar is a wicket taking bowler but might not be economical.

Hence, Praveen looks like the weak link.

I would place Praveen ahead of Munaf simply because Praveen moves the ball both ways... Praveen and Zaheer will extract movement under lights... so those are the two to watch out for...

Australia even though is struggling in tests, they'll still be tough in ODIs. Their batting a good balance between firepower and builders. Their bowling attack is also very dangerous. Their spin however seems to be a big time liability.

Great, you all managed to turn this into a "us" thread. Stop being so self-centered, people! As I already said, this thread is just for the other 13 WC teams. If you want to talk about, "How strong Indian squad is", please continue to do so. But if you want to talk about, "How strong that team will be for Bangladesh", copy the Indian squad and paste it on Bangladesh squad related thread, and continue there.

South Africa and New Zealand named their squad.

No place for Boucher in the SA squad. Is this the end of Boucher's ODI career? As a matter of fact, this could be it for players like Styris and Oram. Too bad, Shane Bond could've been there also.

And more trouble for the Australians, as Michael Mr. Cricket Hussey undergoes hamstring surgery, just after two days Australia named their squad. I don't really like that squad. Missing a opener. Could've easily dropped Steven Smith and taken either Marsh or Warner or even Usman K. No place for Dirk Nannes. He was better off staying with the Neth. team.
