Maymensingh DSA moved to the final of 31st Inter District Cricket Championship beating Comilla DSA by 2 runs in the rain-interrupted first semi final match at SBNCS today. Bating first Mymensingh DSA scored 198/7 in 50 overs. In reply Comilla DSA scored 149/6 in 31.0 overs. According to the D/L method, Mymensingh DSA won by 2 runs.

M'singh triumph against odds
Mymensingh reached the final of the 31st Inter District Cricket Championship with a two-run victory over Comilla in the rain-interrupted first semifinal at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Mymensingh will play Friday's final against the winners of today's second semifinal between Sylhet and Rajshahi at the same venue.

Riding on Uttam Sarker's 89 and Arafat Salahuddin's 62, Mymensingh scored 198 for seven in their stipulated 50 overs.

Due to rain, the target was revised for Comilla through D/L method and a 152-run winning target was set in 31 overs but Comilla managed only 149 for six in 31 overs despite captain Faisal Hossain's 54-ball 63 that contained four boundaries and two sixes. Faisal fell victim to a run out.

Shiehin Rifat claimed three wickets conceding 25 runs in 6 overs.

Earlier Comilla won the toss and sent their opponents into bat first. Pacer Habib gave his team a perfect start by taking three quick wickets and Mymensingh lost half of their wickets for 55 runs. Salahuddin then joined his skipper Uttam Sarker to repair the damage associating 73 runs in the sixth wicket stand.

Uttam played the anchor role during his 132-ball 89 that featured nine fours and a six while Salahuddin contributed 62 off 78 balls with the help of five boundaries and an over boundary.

Mymensingh team captain Uttam was delighted with the outcome as he said that the players have been playing this tournament with a mission to make a protest against the misdeeds of the district's sports and club organisers. Cricketers were frustrated as the organisers have been refrained from arranging 2010-2011 cricket league following a tussle between Players' Welfare Association and the organisers.

“We are trying our best in the tournament because we want to protest against the misdeeds of the cricket and club organisers by playing good cricket in the tournament,” said Uttam.

It was learnt that the tournament committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also failed to convince the organisers to hold the league, which normally takes place in the early months of the year.

BCB's tournament committee chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain however was hopeful that the problem will be solved very soon.

“We hope that the misunderstanding will be removed and the district committee will find a suitable solution regarding this issue to start the league. I think rain is not a factor if they want to arrange the league because some other districts are arranging the league in this rainy season. We don't think about any tough action right at this moment but we will definitely go for it if they fail to organize the league,” said Ashraf adding that they are ready to help them

Inter district cricket should be organized more seriously and regularly. It should also be open for young cricketers; there should be a rule like maximum 4 FC cricketers per team.

Yup inter district tournament should be arranged more seriously.I dont know exactly whats the format but BCB can start regional ODI tournament in the first round followed by second round comprising of the region champions who will play a 2 Day game.We do not play 2 game but i think it will be handy.BCA can introduce 2 day game in DPL as well.

মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা জাতীয় স্টেডিয়ামে আগে ব্যাট করে অল-আউটের আগে ১৯৬ রান করে সিলেট জেলা। এজাজ আহমেদ ৬৫, তৌফিক খান ৩৮, আয়ুব উল্লাহ ৩৬ ও গোলাম মাবুদ ২১ রান করেন। রাজশাহীর সাঞ্জামুল ইসলাম চারটি ও কামরুল হাসান দুটি উইকেট নেন।

এরপর ব্যাট করতে নেমে মিজানুর রহমানের অপরাজিত ১০৫, আসিফ নাঈমের ৫১ ও ইশারুল ইসলামের হার না মানা ২৪ রান মিলিয়ে ৪১.২ ওভারে তিন উইকেট হারিয়ে জয় নিশ্চিত করে। মিজানুর ১১৩ বলে ১৩টি চার ও তিনটি ছয়ের মার দিয়ে নিজের ইনিংসটি সাজান।

চট্টগ্রাম লিগে খেলছেন জাতীয় দলের ক্রিকেটাররা

জাতীয় দলের ক্রিকেটারদের টানছে চট্টগ্রাম ক্রিকেট লিগে। তামিম ইকবাল, নাঈম ইসলামসহ বেশ কয়েকজনকে চট্টগ্রামের কয়েকটি ক্লাব।

ঢাকার বাইরে সাধারণত জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়দের খুব একটা খেলতে দেখা যায় না। স্থানীয় লিগে অন্য জেলার খেলোয়াড়দের অন্তর্ভুক্তিকে ইতিবাচক হিসেবে দেখছেন জাতীয় দলের সাবেক ক্রিকেটার নাফিস ইকবাল। বুধবার তিনি বাংলানিউজকে বলেন,“জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়রা চট্টগ্রামের লিগে খেলছে আমাদের জন্য এটা অহংকারের। আমার বিশ্বাস এই সংখ্যা যত বাড়বে চট্টগ্রাম মহানগরের তরুণ ক্রিকেটাররা তত বেশি উজ্জীবিত হবে। এখানে আরেকটা ইতিবাচক দিক হলো ক্লাবগুলো তারকা ক্রিকেটারদের পেতে টাকা খরচ করছে।”

জাতীয় দলের মারকাটারি ব্যাটসম্যান তামিম ইকবাল খেলছেন চট্টগ্রাম ব্রাদার্স ইউনিয়ন। স্থানীয় লিগে খেলতে পেরে বেজায় খুশি মারকাটারি এই ব্যাটসম্যান। বলছিলেন,“আমি চট্টগ্রামেরই ছেলে। এখান থেকেই আমার উত্থান। চট্টগ্রামের লিগে খেলে আমি আনন্দ পাই। এক সময় জাতীয় দলের অনেক খেলোয়াড় ছিলো চট্টগ্রামের। এখন মাত্র একজন। তার মানে খেলোয়াড় তৈরিতে স্থবিরতা নেমে এসেছে। আমার মনে হয় জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়দের চট্টগ্রাম লিগে খেলার সুযোগ করে দিলে ভবিষ্যতে পোর্ট সিটি থেকে ভালো খেলোয়াড় পাওয়া যাবে।”

Rajshahi: 269/6 beat Mymensingh 161 by 108 runs.

Rajshahi DSA clinched the title of 31st Inter District Cricket Championship beating Mymensingh DSA. At Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Rajshai DSA won the toss and bat first. They put a decsent total of 269/6 for Mymensingh to chase. Ishrul Scored 68(57) and Shabbir scored 54(65) for rajshahi DSA.

In reply Mymensingh DSA could manage 161 for the loss of all wickets and lost the title. Shabbir Rahman took 3 wickets for 29 runs, who judged man of the final.
