great match for shakib, early wickets and 5th bowling option really let down the strikers

I think Shakib should have had Lumb in first over.

Shakib played a very nice hand -literally, just after landing in down-under. Would have been excellent, though, had he been a bit more circumspective and seen the innings through- after the start he got. He would have definitely won the game for the Strikers and that M.o.M. That would have been a dream debut!
Anyway, wishing the Iceman best for the next outings

Good to see Shakib coming up big although the team lost. I thought it'd take him a few games to get used to the conditions but he has performed straight away.
Also IMO, BBL>IPL. IPL might have the star power but the quality of the domestic players bring the tournament down. Add in the fact that there is nothing for the bowlers and everything for the batsmen, might as well just play in the BPL. Whereas BBL, the conditions look even for both bowlers and batsmen. It's also different from our conditions. Our players could benefit much more. Hope more of our players get a shot in the BBL because unlike the IPL, the BBL would play our players.

Wish he'd got his fifty - but played very well, and he did the right thing by hitting out at that stage, nearly cleared the man too. Very good performance straightaway.
His team let him down though, should've scored 160-165 ish from thereon. What a pity.
Bowled tidily too. He's got three more matches, right?
As for comparisons, I don't think any is>other. They're all good in their own ways. Although admittedly it's much fun to watch BBL.
Don't think it's remotely "bowler friendly" just because it's Australia. We've had turning and seaming wickets in IPL too. But yeah, it's a great experience for Shakib, I'm sure.

BBL is certainly > than IPL.
But unfortunately Bangladeshi players are not much known in that part of the world so i highly doubt whether more of our players will feature in BBL in the near future.

BBL is more entertaining to me but both are good tournaments no doubt. For the most part, all the T20 tournaments are pretty good.

Hope Shakib can help with that. In the near future, we might see Tamim getting a chance. And then Nasir and Mushy.

Problem is that BBL don't usually field too many international players.
2-3 at most, sometimes even 1!! T20 specialists, or big names like KP/Vettori/Steyn/Murali are what they want.

The two shots that went for six and the scoop that went for four: Picture perfect.

In fairness you could see the Sixers hadn't done any homework on him. He should expect tougher batting prospects in the next match.

^^Brett Lee is his IPL team mate. Shakib is in form and most will find it difficult to bowl to him. He is that kind of a strokemaker when on song most bowlers -pacers or spinners- will disappear.
Hope his good form continues for good many months

thanks. listening to the commentators, it shows how little the rest of the world cricket knows about BD cricket. we are still very much unknown.
best part was when commies were saying, "arguably, some say, arguably he is the"...i was expecting "best AR in today's game" but they said "best player to come out of bangladesh".

was absolutely shocking the way mark waugh and co knew next to nothing about shakib, but they kept saying through his innings that he was doing pretty well so hopefully shakib can actually make people realise who he is, how good he is and that there are some really good players coming out of BD.

Commentators were just stupid. I think that was Taylor, wasn't it? What a moron.
No offense, but if you're sitting in that bloody com box, you should at least know a guy who had topped both ODI, Test All rounder rankings, have 100 test wickets, and captained an international side of a full member test nation.

The dumb reporters made me realize that Bangladeshi reporters are so much more knowledgeable than them. They asked how Shakib felt to play with star crickets in IPL when he himself is a star cricketer in other parts of the world. Never asked one question about him being the no 1 all rounder in the world or how was his experience playing in county cricket.

Shakib is quite lucky to get a chance to play in such world class stadiums. Most of our players will not get the opportunity before 2015 WC.

And someone even called Shakib the father of Australia
Embarrassing posts aside, at least the strikers will know about Shakib's fan base.
