I think a neutral umpire would have ruled the last delivery as a no ball. It was clearly above waist height. Our umpires are biased. They often try to be overly neutral and give decisions against Bangladesh.

This was a very good performance from the Tigers and I am sure in the limited overs arena they are going to be better and better. I am optimistic about it.

The target was 168 and with a SR of 128 it would have given us 154 runs. As a set batsman, shouldn't he be more agressive a little earlier. Nasir, Sakib, Mithun all sacrified and got out to address the ever growing RRR.
i feel the same..

Just saw a video clip in Independent TV where they marked the waist-line and the point of contact between bat and ball which clearly showed that it was a no-ball. Pilot was the guest in the show and he was simply furious at the umpires for not calling it a no-ball, he said if it was India vs SL then it would have been 100% no-ball.

Bhai, even an inexperienced umpire could have pointed out that it was a noball. Did you see how far behind the crease he was and even then it was above the waist.

Yeah the only way it couldn't have been a no-ball had Anamul come down the wicket whereas he was well behind the crease.

Not only Moni or others but, it seems, Isam also nowadays quite regularly "see" things with a typical CrapInfo journos eyes -just to keep the bosses happy. This is how he "saw" the last delivery as he shouts a nonchalant expert verdict on CI :

"Sri Lanka got another scare when the umpires checked for no ball, which it was not going to be since Perera bowled it from inside the crease, and it was not too high either as it was the perfect length to hammer out of the ground."

I refreshed my knowledge of waist-height no-ball and see why this was close. As per the laws, an above-waist-no-ball is - "Any delivery which passes or would have passed on the full above waist height of the striker standing upright at the popping crease". So, in this picture you have to make two adjustments - one is that you have to "project" him standing upright at the popping crease. The second is that you have to project the trajectory of the ball when it would have crossed the popping crease. The first step will shift the red horizontal line upwards, the second one would move the red circle downwards. It was a close call ... indeed.

Referring to law # 42.6 (b) in ICC T-20 Playing regulations - http://static.icc-cricket.com/ugc/do...332977_153.pdf

you are right, before the last 2 I mean at the end of over 18 Vijay was on 35 of 34b
But he recovered well and almost won it for us.
Yes he should have taken more calculated risk early on, he left it a little too late but he will learn.
I won't blame him personally, he didn't get enough help from Mithun or Phorhad.

Absolutely, he was a touch selfish early on. When u have batsmen like Tamim, Shakib, Nasir as ur partner, you should take some risks as a T20 specialist in the side. You dont have to support the other end... So some calculated risks were required for his position.

Tamim's lazy running cost us this match. Not Anamul.

Tamim clearly had two clear chances at taking 3s, but refused and settled for 2s. So that's 2 runs right there.

I bet he didn't think it would come down to that, but it did. Hence his apparent shock at the last possible no ball, to make up for his guilt of losing us the match.

If anamul plays as an opener then he could get more boundaries and singles during the pp and then play the anchoring innings that he did. It is difficult to come in and whack quality bowlers like malinga, mendis, senanayeke during the middle overs

I personally dont blame Anamul, I would rather blame our 'BOSS' for his ugly looking shot, just after he hit a boundary. ... he was playing a straight delivery on the stumps towards legside with a horizontal bat and last 2 balls he did the same, he was too predictable even by the viewers.. let alone the experienced bowler...he plays at no.4 where specialist batsmen plays.. if he continues to play shots like that he should bat at no. 7 or lower...

I was also shocked to see shakib and nasir laughing at each other when we needed 3 of the last ball.. it seemed like we has already won.. when shakib plays for KKR .. I see him shivering in tension when a similar situation arrives...but here when he was playing for nat. team... the attitude was quite different.. 'dhik' to this guy... for his attitude..

I absolutely conquer. Had it been Sri Lanka batting our umpire would have shown their overtly neutral attitude by giving it a no.

Don't blame Anamul at all. Even in T20 you need a few deliveries to settle in.

There should be a law written somewhere where it states "Mashrafee cannot bowl at death overs" I thought more than anything, his last over where he gave away a lot of runs proved decisive.
