Sabbir set to replace Nasir as DPL icon

Staff Correspondent
Batsman Nasir Hossain’s predicament is unlikely to end anytime soon as the Cricket Board Committee of Dhaka Metropolis is all set to replace him with Sabbir Rahman as the icon player for the forthcoming Dhaka Premier League.
Nasir was one of the six icon players in Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 tournament and was touted as icon for the DPL alongside Mashrafee bin Murtaza, Sakib al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal.
He fell from the grace of national team management recently and was forced to remain content with just one game in the ICC World Twenty20. BCB officials publicly accused Nasir of insincerity, which seemed to have cost him his place as DPL icon.
The CCDM is expected to announce the name of six icon players today for the players’ draft, slated for April 10. Each of the icon players will receive Tk 30 lakh while the maximum wage for the other categories is Tk 25 lakh.
Sources said CCDM initially considered Mustafizur Rahman as an icon player but later dropped the idea as the paceman is unlikely to play a significant part in the league.
Mustafiz will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League scheduled from April 9 to May 29. He will then fly for England to play for the county side Sussex.

DPL set to start on April 20

Staff Correspondent
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned to start the upcoming edition of Dhaka Premier League by April 20, officials said on Thursday.
The working committee of BCB, headed by Enayet Hossain Siraj, proposed the timeline to the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis during its first official meeting.
Several other issues were discussed in the meeting where it was decided that the controversial Players’ by Choice transfer system will return back after one season since its introduction in 2013-14 season.
Under the Players’ by Choice transfer system, players are divided in several categories, will be distributed to the club through lottery, which will take place on April 10.
‘The league will start within the 10 days after the Players’ by Choice is completed,’ said media committee chairman Jalal Yonus after the meeting.
In another important decision, the working committee recommended to have a reserve day for each match, keeping the possibilities of rain in head.
The committee also recommended a raise of grant for the DPL clubs by 25 per cent but wanted their share of profit from the Bangladesh Premier League to be slashed.
Currently each DPL club gets an annual grant of Tk seven lakh from the BCB. The Board also gave each top six clubs Tk 35 lakh and other six clubs Tk 25 lakh from its BPL earnings.
Working committee said Board should now give Tk 15 lakh to each top six clubs and Tk 10 lakh to each of the bottom six clubs.
‘The BCB earned lesser amount from the BPL this season than the past. So, the bounty of DPL clubs also should be reduced,’ said working committee chairman Siraj.

DPL 2015-16 season begins April 20
Mazhar Uddin

The much-awaited Dhaka Premier League 2015-16 season will get underway this month with the players’ draft scheduled for April 10 and the tournament opener slated for April 20.

“Following a meeting of the working committee, it was decided that the players by choice of the DPL will be held on April 10 and the league will begin on April 20,” Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media committee chairman Jalal Younus informed yesterday.

However, ahead of the premier domestic 50-over competition of the country, several cricketers have raised questions regarding the structure of their payment. The frustrated cricketers have openly expressed their disapproval over the players’ draft and instead want a return to the old tradition of the Dhaka League in which they get to choose their own destinations.

The players’ draft came into effect in the DPL 2013-14 season. Although the BCB initially informed that it was a one-off, the board did not stay true to its words as the players have been divided into different grades once again.

“We have revised the players’ category. The Icon players will receive Tk 30 lakh, Grade A+ Tk 25 lakh, A Tk 20 lakh, B+ Tk 15 lakh, B Tk 12 lakh, C Tk 8 lakh, D Tk 5 lakh and E Tk 3.5 lakh. The payment of the players has been increased compared to the previous year. I think the cricketers also know that and are satisfied with it,” said Jalal.

In the 2013-14 season, the Grade A+ cricketers pocketed Tk 22 lakh, A Tk 15 lakh, B+ Tk 10 lakh, B Tk 8 lakh, C Tk 5 lakh and D Tk 2.5 lakh. The Grade E cricketers, meanwhile, had to negotiate with the club officials for their salary.

Jalal added that the fourth edition of the money-spinning Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 will take place this November.

A tour to Europe may have been more beneficial with the Champions Trophy in 2017,but 12 teams Eckie Thump.

^^ yeah right ... Ditch country's one & only domestic One Day tournament for CT - June 2017 now ... Make no sense! Pretty sure BCB will arrange practice match before that tourney!

Is that Aussie not playing "Matador BBQs One Day Cup" this year for next years CT in England?!!

No thank you. This may benefit 15 players, which i doubt even as the CT still 14 months away. But DPl will benefit >150 cricketers , especially financially as this the main source of players income after the BPL for non nats players.

'Players by choice' transfer set to return in Dhaka league

Quote:
The 12 Premier League clubs will pick their choice of players who will be divided into eight categories - Icon (fixed salary of Tk 30 lakh), A+ (fixed salary of Tk 25 lakh), A (Tk 20 lakh), B+ (Tk 15 lakh), B (Tk 12 lakh), C (Tk 8 lakh), D (Tk 5 lakh) and E (Tk 3.5 lakh) [US$1 = 77 taka, 1 million = 10 lakh].
Quote:
"The CCDM (Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis) will prepare the players' list for the eight categories. We are yet to finalise the start of the league but most likely it will kick off from April 20. There will be a reserve day for each match as rain may interrupt the league. A club will be able to register an unlimited number of foreign players but can field only one each match."
Good to see there are reserve days.

^^ I was just pulling your legs when mentioning Matador cup

DPL is not just another 50-over tourney .. it's the most competitive league in BD for years ... 12 teams format working for this league for many years ... Players normally waiting for this league ... if you shine in this league, you may get a national call sooner than you think ... lots of big name foreign players used to play in this league even before our Pre-test era ....

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in the process of forming a committee that will focus solely on bowlers' actions in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
