Will Mirpur be sporting?

Sports Reporter

“Till now the coach or captain does not know much about the wicket. We haven’t done much work. But no matter what the wicket is, we need to play. Actually this is a new wicket, because there haven’t been any games played here for a long time. I don’t know what will happen,” said Gazi.
Why don't we know much about the wicket? What have we been doing the last 7 months prior to this series to KNOW more about this wicket?

I hope it's some kind of master plan to confuse the NZ team because how can we not know the pitch in Mirpur? NZ team is the touring side so its okay for them to not know or be unsure about how the wicket will behave but for us that is where we play the whole year!

I wish it was a master plan, but the pitches in Mirpur have always been a mystery for everyone and exactly the opposite happens of what is being predicted most of the time. There are 8 pitches in Mirpur and all of them looks pretty much the same but behaves differently and it's hard to identify which one's turning or flat due to the black soil used in these pitches. If anything this is what was needed to be changed by using typical brown soil instead of black soil for making pitches but the geniuses in BCB rather relayed the whole ground with new grass which were absolutely fine and damaged the drainage system.

that was a crime what they did with the drainage system, it was easily one of the best if not the best drainage system in the world, i saw matches start withing an hour after it has been raining for 1 hour straight

^^ I know right, and they spend more than a crore to make it worse instead of improving it. There were various articles on the newspapers mentioning how badly it affected the ground and the players also complained about it as it now takes a lot longer to get the ground ready.

Pitch should be ideal for spinners: play a turning wicket

Prepare the same exact pitch that was prepared when we lost to West Indies in the World Cup in ODI 2011 it may be a disastrous of a pitch for us in ODI but in tests we should bat first on that kind of a pitch and it may play to our advantage

Bangladesh (likely): 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Anamul Haque, 3 Marshall Ayub, 4 Mominul Haque, 5 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 6 Shakib Al Hasan, 7 Nasir Hossain, 8 Sohag Gazi, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Robiul Islam, 11 Rubel Hossain.

So it seems it will be a medium turning sporting wicket....

Pitch and conditions
The Mirpur wicket will be slow, but will offer much to batsmen and spinners. The fast bowlers will struggle, although reverse swing is a possibility given the outfield conditions. There was heavy rain on Sunday morning and forecasts suggest more showers over the next week.
I like this type wicket than hugely turning wickets. But weather forecast is scary.

^^^ Rubel? Why? Why??

Play three spinners, or bring Al-Amin - he can't do worse, can he?

It rained for half-an-hour or so in the afternoon but otherwise there was bright sunshine the whole day, though there are forecasts of rain in all 5 days of the test.

Big news (for me)! Got tickets for 22nd October for VIP Grand Stand. Hope to take my 3 year old son and hubby to the stadium.

Never been to a stadium to watch a cricket match. What are the facilities for VIP Grand Stand?

Quite a nice view and close up to the ground. You can roam around much more freely and probably get to see some of the BCB staff and/or players..
