Default Your BEST 'One-Trick Ponies'

So much promises but so little delivery or just an one-time delivery.

According to some web-pedias -
One-trick Pony is someone or something that has success only once

We seem to have so many of these ponies in our team. Who is your best?

Nasir Hossain - is fast becoming my favourite.

You are probably thinking Nasir delivered more than once but 'once' in our cricketing scenario is few matches, 5-10 matches and thats all <--- one-trick pony!!!

Your "one trick pony" has 2nd test average, highest ODI average in the team. He has played 14 tests and 35 ODIs. So the sample size is not small.

My one trick pony would be a pony which I may ride or not. Please refrain from playing with words. You start a thread and then end up without a proper example of your own.

Almost like our players, perfect 'one-trick pony' thread.

I think Roni meant to say by one-trick pony Nasir only delivered the goods enough number of times that even though they may not be a single number per say, but they don't add up anything big to make any difference. He was on the rise, and that rise was a decent upwards curve. But lately, his downfall is way too drastic. So his fall actually is taking place at a faster rate than his initial rise. Therefore putting him in the one trick pony category. Meaning, he's sucking so bad that his glory days all accumulate to a mere one.
With that said, there could a misunderstanding here, and could result in being ambiguous about terminology. If one trick definition has to have a single digit event of success then Nasir doesn't fall in that category. So it maybe a matter of how you interpret ''one."

My one trick is going to be Nasir as well. This guy sucks at batting and fielding. His bowling doesn't speak for itself. That's 3 departments where he's below average. He's just hogging up resources which can be spend on other players.

nasir has been playing all formats since 2011, he's probably had a bit over 2 years of success and now just 3 or 4 months of poor performances so i wouldn't call him a one trick pony.

shamsur is more of a call but i'll wait on that, look at what happened to anamul, he got that ODI ton then did poorly for awhile but now he's one of the most consistent (for now). shamsur has a test ton after 2 matches, he has 2 ODI half centuries one was nearly a ton and he's got a half century in t20s as well.

in this current team no one to me is a one trick pony, I'm still hopeful about Copa del Shamsu & Gazi.
Nasir is just not in form, don't forget he earned the title of "Mr. Consistent"

from our old squad there were too many one trick pony, I won't even start.

A team is as good as it's leaders.

It says a lot about our board, the selectors, the coaches and the captain.
