I can not simply afford to rest Ashraful after his training, we should try him out for the first test and ODI if doesn't work then we will replace him with either Tushar/Sanwar/Nafees/Javed. Actually we should have sent Rajin as well for the training, he works hard.

Mridul bhai we already have good number of spinners. Rafiq, Saleh, Kapali, Ashraful, thats 4 and would be good enough. Ashraful and Kapali will get better hopefully after their training.

Practice match is still the key for the selection. Fahim might get lucky.

However, this is if I had to chose right now. A lot of players have the chance to impress in the practice matches. Ashraful's place is up for grabs, and while both Hannan and Golla have shown improvements in Pakistan, neither can take their place for granted yet I don't think. So atleast a couple of batsmen might be able to push their way into the side. Nafis is obviously the front-runner right now.

Say is so right, getting rid of Sujon actually gives us tons of options.

First of all,
I don't wanna create pressure on Sumon
Secondly,
javed is one of the few consistent senior perfomer in our test team.
thirdly,
Javed is a batsman.
My third point might make somebody astonished.
But the fact is I don't like bowlers as captain. Because the captain has to make bowling changes and a bowler captain took advantages of it.

And Javed can take the pressure thats the great feature of the player

But you might have seen that at the late era of Wasims career when the tell-enders come to batting wasim started bowling (specially i noticed it in the test championship)

And about Imran I am not that concerned about Imran because I've only seen him in w/cup and a few Sharjah cups

You need few experienced players for the BCB Presidents XI. Probably Bidyut, Opee, Sanwar, Mushfiq.

I don't want to put too many seniors into it. The seniors can wait to play in the BD A team. I like Mridul's team. It might be a good idea to play Bidyut though, since he has not played for BD in a long time. As for the others, Sanwar/Mushfiq/Opee, who have all represented BD in the last six months, they should just play for BD A.

I think Whatmore will like Mridul's team as well because he wants to see as many juniors as he can.

Busta Cup boosts Mazharul

Mazharul Haq Mridul is bringing off quite well in West Indies while his team Bangladesh-A is striving to evade more humiliating defeats. The chubby Mazharul, according to some cricket experts, is presently the best suit for slot three where Bangladesh have a need of a sensible technically sound batsman.

Many had been tried there but little success came as a result. Habibul Bashar was pretty watchful at number three, but he wasn't looking comfortable against the new ball. So, he have been pushed down the order at number four where generally the best one of a team bats.

Mazharul's auspicious performance in West Indies gives us a new hope, like a silver lining in the horizon – he could be one of the brightest prospects for his country if he carried on like this. Mindful that Bangladesh stepped into the Caribbean grounds for the first time and they virtually had no practical idea about the weather or the pitch condition of the land.

Busta Cup can be compared to our National League, but unquestionably a lot better in standard. It's the major tournament being carried out in West Indies and usually turns out to be a flourishing ground for the new kids. The Islands like Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, Guiana produced a lot of talents in the past. Playing against these Islands isn't a very easy task no matter how deteriorating is the plight of Caribbean cricket presently.

Bangladesh-A couldn't play well despite the fact that they have two batsmen who had continuation with their willows – Mazharul Haq and former Bangladesh captain Akram Khan displayed some vigilance when they batted and eventually came up with some good knocks. Of the two Mazharul was a smash hit. We saw quite a bit of solid knocks coming off his bat in adverse situation.

In fact, this man has enough talents in him to get a position in Bangladesh squad long before – at least a year ago. A customary negligence towards the game had worked as a drawback in his career. Anyway, Mazharul desperately needed a resurrection not to show up as a wasted talent. His hit the big time in Busta Cup, a performance good enough to make the selectors give a second thought before ruling him out.

Mazharul, after that stupendous 144 against Common Wealth Bank Cricket Academy of Australia (CBCA) in January last year, became out of sight for almost 12 months. But, things should have been different. That memorable knock, featured with brave stroke play, was one of the best knocks Dhaka ground had ever seen.

Mazharul himself experienced a 28-day training program in CBCA in Australia in 2000. Rodney Marsh, the chief in the Academy, was quite optimistic about his career thinking the boy would soon emerge as the best batsman in his country. Barring all those prophecies made on him Mazharul's career was falling away alarmingly.

His comeback in the Busta Cup is unique, as it clears the fact that he resolves to take hold of the number-three position in Bangladesh squad. Undoubtedly he is a worthy candidate for that niche right now!

Mazharul Hoq looked very confident to give his best

The name of Mazharul Hoq Mridul might not be that much familiar before this year. There are few players in our country who possess immense potentiality but prone to waste it somehow-Mazhar is one of them. Mazhar can be compared with Sajjad Ahmed Shipon, a talent to watch, but whose name has almost faded from his fan's minds. Still Mazharul Hoq has the chance to prove his worth as he has been called in to the Bangladesh-A team camping. If he could run things in his favor, this opportunity would pave his way up to the national squad. And to talk with no exaggeration, he can boast of all kinds of skills that are necessary to wear the national cap.

Born in Narayanganj, a district in the fringe of Dhaka, he took the bat first at the age of nine. His mother who wanted her child to concentrate over cricket without hampering his study vastly encouraged him. Being a chubby fellow since his boyhood Mazhar opted to become a specialist batsman and soon emerged as a recognized batsman in his vicinity. He should be grateful to his local coach Mr. Jalisur Rahim who first sensed the youth's talents as a cricketer. Later, when Mazhar began to play in Dhaka-he was well supported by coach Fahim Bhai and Jalal Bhai who had performed their great roles to lift him to the position now he is in.

He got the rare opportunity to take training in CBCA, a renowned Australian cricket academy in the year 1999. There he picked up expertise advices from greats like Rodney Marsh and Wyane Philips. He had some few problems in his back lift and those suggestions helped him out to make a lot of positive changes in his batting. A new Mazhar with a lot of returned home after a laborious six-week training session in Australia, which he thinks added new dimension to his career.

Mazharul joined the squad that headed for Singapore to attend the Youth Asia Cup, 99. He notched up a memorable innings of 78* that bucked up Bangladesh to defeat Papua New Genie in the semi final. He propped up the bowling department capturing 2 wickets too by his orthodox off-spin. Against England-A that traveled Bangladesh in 1999, he rake up 46 in a one day.

Usually Mazhar bats in the fourth position in both versions of the game. He feels pretty relaxed there. He played his best knock against CBCA in January, this year. That match became more exciting for Mazhar's 144. And it was quite unforgettable the way he smashed the quick Aussie bowlers down to boundary and most of them came from pull shots. It was quite enthralling to watch him dealing the Aussies with so ease, where his compatriots were struggling a lot.

He put a lot of weight these days that he thinks might arrest his development in his career. He is determined to shake off the extra pounds and working a lot on that. Hard training sessions and seriousness can only hoist his fluctuating career to his desired level. There is no tint of less sincerity in Mazhar's voice. He is good, that he knows better but he wants to utilize the goods he got gifted by God.
