Legendary actress Suchitra Sen dies
Quote:
She breathed her last at 8:25am. The immediate reason of her death was cardiac arrest.
She was admitted to Belle Vue Clinic on December 23 with severe lung infection.
During the past 26 days, she has been frequently in and out of the danger zone. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee visited her seven times over the past few days.
Sen had starred in memorable Hindi films like 'Devdas', and 'Aandhi' and 'Saat Paake Bandha', 'Agnipariksha', 'Saptapadi' and 'Deep Jwele Jai' in Bengali.

End of the Uttam-Suchitra era..i dont think there will ever be another on screen couple like these two
i read in dainik Janokontho that she requested Mamata to organize her "seskritto" in pabna(where she was born and spent her childhood and teenage life)..if this is true and Indian government approaches us, BD government should provide all the support it can to make this happen

End of an era indeed. Shaarey Chuattor was my first Uttom-Shuchitra Shen film. Still have fond memories of it.

Some 20 odd years back from now, long before the cable TV has reached the masses, I remember my parents, brimming with excitement, occupying the sofa every Saturday evening to watch a Uttam-Suchitra movie on Doordarshan, and thus hampering my console gaming session. Back then I was too young to understand what the fuss is all about. It was only years later that it dawned to me the charisma that had, and still leaves the viewers awe-stuck. I can only imagine what the previous generation, young men and woman queuing in the cinema halls to watch a newly released Uttam-Suchitra movie, would feel about it.
Thank you....for the special memories.

Deepest respect. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Great symbol of South Asia. Loved so many of her films growing up. Elegance and simplicity personified. The one and only Paru of Devdas.
May Allah have mercy on her! Rest In Peace!
