Default Australia Keen on touring Bangladesh in 2017

Didn't see a thread on this topic. Few days old article by our Isam.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/banglade...y/1004343.html

What is your take on it?

Australia are likely to tour Bangladesh in 2017 to play the two-Test series that had been postponed last year due to security concerns.

The teams were set to play in Dhaka in October 2015, but Cricket Australia received a government advisory about threats to Australian interest in Bangladesh two days before the players' departure. The BCB promised VVIP security in an effort to salvage the tour, but were unsuccessful. The Australian Under-19s had also withdrawn from the World Cup that was held in Bangladesh at the start of 2016.

On Tuesday, Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland, who had made the pull out public last year, said they were keen to resume ties. "We've had discussions offline with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. They know and understand that we're absolutely committed to playing that [postponed] tour, obviously subject to security matters that we need to go through in preparation for that tour. But we're very much looking forward to getting back to Bangladesh and playing cricket over there."

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury also told ESPNcricinfo that, "after discussions with Cricket Australia, we are at the final stages of finalising the commitment for their tour to Bangladesh next year, and we will announce the tour dates once everything is confirmed."

It is understood that the two Tests could be held immediately after the 2017 Champions Trophy in England, which runs from June 1 to 18, although cricket in Bangladesh is not usually played in the months between May and October.

From my point of view:

Unless you add ODIs to that tour.... Up yours ACB.

I would love to see some ODIs added to the tours and I share your frustration. But I will take the tests for now. Too bad they have chosen the worst possible time for us to play tests (Ramadan).

You can never be sure about Australia. They have this habit of cancelling tours at the very last minute.

Test cricket is good. Playing against #1 Test side is even better. So I think there's no reason BCB should disagree unless it conflicts with something else.

Can we say "Thanks but no thanks" to the drama queen?

I don't know... they seems to complain too much... the more you bend, the more they complain.

Now that we are playing better and as a result other good teams are more eager to play against us, should we bend further for them.

I am pretty much 99% sure, as the tour date approaches, they will come up with more last moment drama.

Do we need these?

They decided not to participate in W19? Did we missed them? I didn't. At the end they were the one who were the loser. if India, NZl, WI, SA, England and the rest of the countries can come to Bangladesh, what makes them so special to not come here?

So I say, with the Ramadan / heat / rain / schedule conflict /(whatever BCB can come up) issue, BCB should say "Thanks, but no thanks. Not this time, may be in the future."

On the other hand, rain affected matches and if we draw the series we will replace WI as #8. I just want to add few more ODIs.

I think there are greater odds that they would NOT tour Bangladesh. Plus any news that comes from BCB only is not completely reliable. Please note James Sutherland just said they are committed to tour Bangladesh but subject to security clearance (which was also said before the last tour)

When CA confirms the news I will have a little more confidence.

How is security not an issue for every other country touring bdesh, but only for the Aussie?!

Just to play tests would be pretty boring too, especially considering we suck real bad in that format. If they themselves want a fun, competitive series. Best to put in some odi's and the odd t20.

1/2. Tests
3 odi's
1 t20.
I'd take that in a series vs a big team like a is

Test-only tour? Forget it. Another not-so-discrete attempt to avoid a Banglawash. Nice try. BCB should say ODI series or no tour.

Not to mention, this is the most boring side Aus ever had. Clarke leaving + transition phase. Come back when you play an exciting brand of cricket.

this is a test only tour because this isn't a new tour. australia after the 2011 wc was suppose to tour us for 3 odi and 2 test. they toured and played 3 odis and now these 2 tests are to complete that tour
