We are in for some SERIOUS TROUBLE
Who will be our middle order batsman in the Test matches?
Nobody deserves to bat in the Bangladeshi middle order from the BCB XI squad - and yet we have a vacant number 6 position.

Moniruzzaman was fielding at a point position (According to one Bangladesher Khela report of yesterday), so he obviously wasn't wearing any helmet.
At this moment, I am praying the extended weather forecast to be true. Extended Weather Forecast

So, we need 3 runs with 2 wickets to avoid follow-on!

I thought 103 runs needed to avoid F/O.

Law 13 (The follow-on)
(a) In a two innings match of 5 days or more, the side which bats first and leads by at least 200 runs shall have the option of requiring the other side to follow their innings.
(b) The same option shall be available in two innings matches of shorter duration with the minimum required leads as follows:
(i) 150 runs in a match of 3 or 4 days;
(ii) 100 runs in a 2-day match;
(iii) 75 runs in a 1-day match.

BD: 57/10
Eng: 16/0 (3 overs in 2nd Innings)
Apparently they didn't enforce the f/o.

Why were we even talking about follow-ons
They were never gonna enforce it. England needs batting practice more than anything. Obviously they are gonna opt to give their batsmen more time out in the middle than to throw their bowlers out again against a batting line-up that has hardly posed a threat.

The bcb Xi batting would probably have done the same against the national team while the national team may have scored past 200 against the bcb xi attack ... my point is, this match is not going to give us any indication about what will happen in the real tests. Nadif is not Rajin, Aftab is not Sumon and blah blah blah blah blah.
On the same token, the national team will probably have a hard time keeping England under 300.

Eng dec for 69/1 at lunch
According to Cricinfo.
I don't understand why. I would have let my batsmen get a little more practice then trying to win this match.
Let's hope Hanan and co gets another good training exercise. Good for us actually.

Right on Tehsin.
After their batting collapse I thought they would want to bat all day.
I guess they want to win.

This is fun - Go for win
266 needed in two sessions. I'd ask the top three bats to get a careful start (Nafees and Afteb are future national team contenders), go for those ones and twos and then push for a win. Nothing to lose.

Rafiq bhai, this is a safe match. It won't sting even if they go for 30-odd. So, why not shoot for the stars? Try it, it feels good.

no I agree about going for it, it's just unlikely because the BD batsmen will want to go slow and not lose wickets like the first innings. it's a big score on this pitch. but I see your point, if they are going to get blown out again they might as well do some hitting along the way.

they're not going to get an opportunity to bat again...surely. or so i thought.
the english were meant to use this opportunity to bat until stumps. oh well...i guess they feel like they have the measure of the pitch, and are going to go for a morale-boosting, face-saving win.

England\'s tactics were pretty clever
They opened with Thorpe and Clarke, the two who gots ducks in the first innings. With Thorpe, they wanted him to spend some time out in the middle, which he did, scoring 47 off 42 balls. Clarke on the other hand got a match to prove that he deserves a place ahead of Collingwood, but after a duck and 19, both times out to jnr, I think it is quite safe to say that Collingwood will play in the next match and go on to bat at 6 in the Test matches.
I am surprised by this declaration as well. I thought atleast Hussain would have liked a knock. But I think England wants to give their spinners a go. We'll see soon enough if I am right or wrong, but I think Giles and Batty will bowl the majority of the two session left in this match.

60 overs to play. Serious batting might stage some thrilling experience.
