Ashraful stays strangely silent
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereport...ely_silen.html
What was his problem? Is this the way to represent your country? Captains has to lead on and off the field. What was he afraid of? You do not have to be fluent like Sanagakara but he is atleast as good as Inzamam! He was not bad at the end of the SL game. He defended very well when talking about upsets BD may inflict to higher ranking teams.

Maybe he was star struck.
Regardless, its not really that important. Probably better to do the talking on the field, rather than at some dinner. And plus, what was he really going to say?

he may have his reasons which he didnt choose to share about why he didnt speak and I am sure theres a perfectly viable explanation and nothing to do with pride or english etc
Of course the real talking will be done with his bat on the 6th and beyond Inshallah

I support this. Good. He can get by with his English. I don't think that is an issue. I'm glad he decided not to gab. Hope he lets his bat do the talking come match day.

But later when I spoke to Gabby I discovered that there was no such snub. It was Ashraful, himself, who told Gabby he did not want to be asked any questions.

i see signs of maturity, ALhamdulillah i support ashraful in this case.

There has to be something happened in the party. May be guests were laughing at him/BD as we dont have any chance of wining or something else. who knows? May be that's why he didn't want to talk. Whatever the reason, I dont care. I'd rather see him talk with his bat than answer questions from some hosts.
Also today he responded very well about "upset" word used by Naser Hussain. THAT WAS GREAT!!! World needs to know its not upset anymore to beat teams like India/SF/WI etc. Upset will be not to beat them easily

My guess is that he felt he wasn't treated right in the IPL (himself and masri actually). And since most of the questions were from the IPL, he decided not to talk. Good choice in the end as long as our bats do the talking on the 6th. If not.....

Our players did the talking in the field, 2 wins against the minnows and competative matches against the stronger sides. No need off field talking. Let our batters and bowlers do the talking in the field on 6th june

IPL matured him I guess and that's where he has learnt to keep quiet. Good.

Come on lads, I have never seen any Bangladeshi captain speak as fluently as Ash did against SL/AUS. Well about his silence, may be he just wanted to avoid talking? or probably he was too tired after the game? But I think Ash has been the best captain BD has had till date, he has grown in confidece, with making much better moves, talking quite fluently. I think we have found the Stephen Fleming/Graeme Smith. Cause i dont see anyone taking his captiancy, unless he performs like crap

What do you mean he was star-struck? He has been playing International cricket for 8 years and has been captain of a Test team for 2 years. He just came out from playing with team-mates such as Tendulkar and Jayasuriya. He is being criticised and rightly so. What kind of maturity is shown by snubbing a country's biggest sports show? As a captain he is responsible for promoting ICC events. And what does this have anything to do with the match on the 6th? Sometimes we are just too blind and excited and "he will reply with his bat" just sounds plain stupid. If he was really mature he would've put whatever happened in the party behind and put a brave face in front of the camera. Just when you think he is maturing he does something like slapping a spectator or this or like what happened yesterday he just turned his back to Tamim. This kid lets me down so badly on the field and off the field...

No biggie..but if I was Ashraful, I'd tell them to ask just one or two questions if I didn't want to talk, and answer briefly. If I was worried about being on the spot, I would have asked them to let me know the questions beforehand. Nothing that can't be managed.
maybe he heard the topic and thought there's not much worth talking..especially if its IPL. More that ppl snub IPL, the better..
