Default the ODI series wasn\'t a dissappointment

I personally thought that BD were gonna lose all three matches, but hoped they would win one. The first game was real close, the second not at all, and the third was cose too-5 balls from winning. Overall, I think that this was an improvement as we have proved that we are capable of pushing teams that are not Zimbabwe and Kenya.

The tests we will prolly lose too, but lets fight for 10 days in both tests combined.

No improvement should be counted than a WIN in this phase of BD cricket. I am sick and tired of this "improvement" theory when we are losing constantly.

Not sure if the ODI series was not that much a disappointment(a complacence?), but it is a sheer frustration to see our team management have no game plan in terms of short version of cricket. It is frustrating to see Ashraful was pushed up to open the innings. I don't wanna blame this poor lad for a failure as an opener, since he is always fit for middle order slot. It is frustrating to see our think tank sent Mushfiq and then Mahmud to bat at the slog overs in this last match, where we all know that Rafique is the perfect fit to whack the ball to accelerate the run rate. It is frustrating to see the way the batsmen went for 1's and 2's instead of going for some big hits. I am more frustrated rather than being disappointed

Well, overall, this series was not all that bad, but after playing around 80 matches for the last 20 years or so, we fans might as well demand a few wins.

Unfortunately, the likes of Ash, Hannan, and so on, have not been around for 20 yrs. And besides, those ODI up until 97 or so, were picnic cricket anyway - more like token gestures of friendship.

On the positive side, if our improved bowling and fielding continues, take heart from the fact that we have our batting to only improve, and thus get a quantum leap in our win probability.

this ODI series was totally sucks!

now let's us talk about the test series.

Why you assuming that we are going to lose the test matches as well? Now days, in every match we are showing enormous improvement and putting up decent fight against every test playing nation. In that sense, we have far better chance of pulling up a win or at least a draw in this series because West Indies batting lineup still shaky and unpredictable like us. If our top order click, and put up some decent runs. I don’t see why not winning our maiden test victory in someone’ backyard.

you're right pundit. our bowling and fielding in ODI has reached intl standard ( ability to bowl tight, restrict wides and nos etc ) as can be evidenced from recent games, where we have been able to peg back the opposition batting despite the limited nature of our bowling strength. We have been getting wkts, not by sheer talent of the bowlers, but by practicing excellent discipline. Thats good coaching. Batting, however is a differnt proposition altogether and we have ways to go. So, consider the improvement only 50% and oh yes..the fielding too.

we've gotten those few wins now...

honestly, when i started this thread, if someone told me we would beat India twice, Australia, Lanka, and South africa all on the way to the 2nd round of WC, winning a match there as well, i would have told them to stop hallucinating.

feels good to watch this team grow.

We would have a WIN if we did not have Bashar as captain. So, I would not hold the 0-2 result of the series against the team, but would hold it against the captain.

i completely agree with "the criterion"(translation of "al-furqaan") people, we know that bangladesh could have done better, but at least we didn't so worse we put a a good performance and we did good... LET'S JUST SAY WE WERE MORE CONSISTENT THAN BACK IN 2003...

but we still have a lot of work to do... i was impressed by the bangladeshi effort but they still need to work on a lot of things if we want consistent wins.

our next goal, is to beat sri lanka within a couple of months and improve from now on...

on second thoughts, better judgement from our captain is one of those things we should work on as well, sorry haba bhai...to habibul bashar: your smile is inspiring, but lets convert those smiles into a test victory, shall we

rubu, gotcha!

this thread is over 3 years old...its about our ODI series in the WIndies where we came real close to winning the first ODI (defending 140 odd).

its not about the india series...but yes without bashar's captaincy we could have won.
