March 4, 2015 An all-inclusive blueprint for the 2019 World Cup by MARTIN CROWE
Love his idea. Not necessarily for the execution but towards increasing inclusiveness.

MARTIN CROWE
A 40-over tournament with 18 teams, played over ten weeks, with a best-of-three final will help identify a true champion team with luck playing little part

in the comments one guy suggested if a bowler gets 2 wickets he can bowl an extra over, that is if his figures are 10-0-20-2 he gets to bowl over number 11, not a bad idea..it means your best bowler on the gets utilized more, puts more balance between bat and bowl

I like the 40 over idea but needs work.
ODI needs to be destroyed and trashed. These games have no meaning when 75% of the match is decided by the toss. There shouldn't be such high disadvantage for teams batting 2nd. So get rid of ODI, turn it into 40 overs, split into 2 innings. That way you get the T20 explosion with a Test match aspect. Teams will get to compete on the pitch back and forth and not get "tossed" out. Sports that are popular, ie soccer, Bball, nfl, rugby, heck even baseball, the competition goes back and forth. Both offense and defense are on the field at the same time and that's one of the very reason why they're so fun to watch. Test is the only closest thing in cricket that comes to that. And why, even tho it's long as hell, Test is able to create a lot of drama and excitement. We can get rid of the lengthy-ness by bringing in the T20 aspect. It will have competition. It'll balance the game, add drama and explosion for both the short attention span fans and the old purists.

10 weeks is far too long. ODI world cup should be completed within 4 to 6 weeks.

Not a Bad idea if ICC wants to spread the game, this should be widened...

More teams, more games, what is not to like.
But I don't see the stuck-ups at ICC making any major changes. So not going to happen.
