Razzak to return to int'l cricket
Dhaka, Mar 12 (bdnews4.com) - Left arm spinner Abdur Razzak is set to return to action after the International Cricket Council clears his suspect bowling action, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement on Thursday.

Razzak underwent a reassessment test at the Australian Institute of Sports on February 23 to correct his bowling action.

The 26-year-old was suspended by the ICC in November after an independent analysis of his bowling action revealed that it exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under regulations.

Earlier BCB cricket operations chairman Enayet Hossain Siraj said on Wednesday: "We hope to get a positive result on Razzak in a couple of days.

"I am not sure whether Razzak has been cleared until ICC let us know," said Siraj.

"However, we came to know from an unconfirmed source that he now has no problem with his bowling action."

ICC lifts suspension on Abdur Razzak
TigerCricket.com Report
12-March-2009

Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak has received clearance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to bowl in international cricket. Razzak had been suspended by the ICC in November 2008 for an Illegal Bowling Action. He appeared for a reassessment of his action at the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) in Canberra on 23 February and has been subsequently cleared.

The ICC has informed the BCB that Razzak’s bowling technique has changed to the extent that both his stock delivery and faster ball are now within the ICC tolerance level of 15° and his action was now legal. As a result the previous suspension has been lifted and Razzak is once again permitted to bowl in international cricket.

Default great news

March 12 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world on Thursday.

Cricket - Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak has been cleared of having a suspect bowling action by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Bangladesh's board said on Thursday.

The ICC banned Razzak from bowling after he was reported by the elite panel umpires Daryl Harper and Ashoka de Silva after a home series against New Zealand in October.

"His stock delivery and faster ball are now within the ICC tolerance level of 15 and his action was now legal," the Bangladesh board said in a statement. "As a result the previous suspension has been lifted."

Hockey - The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has dismissed security fears about visiting India following a slew of militant attacks in the region, insisting next year's World Cup would be staged in New Delhi as planned.

"The FIH World Cup will be played in 2010 in Delhi," the FIH's Arjen Meijer told the Indian Express. "We always listen carefully to our athletes and national associations and take their advice and requests into consideration." (Editing by Martin Petty)
