Default Formula 1 2009

What a way to kick off summer with Pelham 123, Bangladesh taking on India, Conan O'Brien debut, partial differential equations and of course upcoming Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix (Jun 5th,6th,7th). Here's a preview of the circuit:

Indeed and the way things are going, its Button & Brawn that'll conquer it.

Except Massa-Ferrari won all 2006,2007,2008 Turkish GP. Hopefully they can bank in on this, eventhough they are like 70 pts. behind. Although I got my money on Raikkonen, Button might cause an upset.

Here this will give you a driver's point of view glimpse including the famous Turn 8 constructed from the minds of German civil engineer Hermann Tilke:

The fact that it runs anti-clockwise (one of three anti-clockwise tracks in the championship including Singapore and newest track Abu Dhabi) contributes to driver fatigue. It also creates additional pressures for the tyres and particularly for the right front, as well as for the drivers’ neck muscles.Turn 8 is super fast with high G, in fact it’s quite high G-force, up to 5G for 5/6 seconds, which puts a lot of stress on your neck. You need to exercise the left side of your neck a little more than usual before getting in the car. Because of the nature of this track all the cars will run with medium downforce settings in order to carry good speed through Turn 8. As McLaren lacks downforce I don't see any chance for Hamilton in top 5 unless the safety car is deployed. My prediction for the podium if the race is dry

Button
Massa
Vettel

My projected podium:

Button
Raikkonen
Massa

(althought I want my Ferrari to win!)

Wow! In 2011 Indian Grand Prix is coming up. I am impressed at the Infra-structural development. Tilke will design it in Delhi. Cost? About US $320 million. Watch out for Narain Karthikeyan.

For the past two years I've been watching this guy and his driving really impresses me. He's off to a good start this year. I hope he finishes at the podium a lot more this season.

BMW did pretty good in practice given the fact they are without KERS.

Mathematics of F1:

My question is can there be a similar study done to show who are statistically the great cricket players in terms of timing and reaction speed, body balance and mechanics, etcetera? I feel Tendulkar would get the most perfect 'lines.' (Haven't seen much of Bradman to comment.)

As you know the cars in the top 10 are not allowed to refuel between Q3 qualifying and race, here is fuel-adjusted grid with estimated first pit-stop laps:
1. Jenson Button - lap 17
2. Sebastian Vettel - lap 15
3. Mark Webber - lap 17
4. Rubens Barrichello - lap 16
5. Kimi Raikkonen - lap 17
6. Jarno Trulli - lap 16
7. Felipe Massa - lap 16
8. Nico Rosberg - lap 18

Vettel was carrying 6kg less fuel compared to Button and only 2 laps advantage so I assume Button will move up after first pit stop (without safety car). The surprise package could be Mark Webber.

Button streak continues...(lol at the unintended pun). Barrichello made a mess today. I was snoozing at the middle of the race, cuz it was getting so boring and predictable. Projection was way off.

Am I the only one getting bored of this season. Its turning into the Schumacher days, with the same guy winning most of the matches....

Imagine how good this season would have been if every team had that double deck thingy that put Button and Vettal so far ahead of others. Now you got half the teams modifying their cars designs halfway thru just to be competitive.

I personally think it'd be between Hamilton vs. Button in the upcoming Silverstone Grand Prix:

Pretty boy Nico Rosber di Caprio tries too hard with these promotion and stuff. Lol.

British GP Circuit Preview (Extended Version):

Rain may play crucial role. Suddenly it wont be just a constructor's game; drivers will play major role. Should be interesting with slick tire and all...

Speaking of Silverstone GP, just watched the '98 one where Schumacher won even after being in the pit for 10 secs penalty after the race was over and still beating Mika Hakkinen. Anyone remembers that one?

Anyways...please contribute guys. I feel like I am talking to the wall here. lol. Come'on I know I am not the only Formula 1 fan here.

Raikkonen tied at the second place in Forbe's Highest Paid athelte.

Quote:
No. 2 Kimi Raikkonen (Tie)
$45 million

Formula One's highest-paid driver finished a disappointing third in the World Championship standings last year after winning the title in 2007. This year has been even worse for the Iceman who sits in 10th place in the current standings. Ferrari resigned Raikkonen in September to a one-year contract extension keeping the Finn behind the wheel for Ferrari through 2010.

Vetter-Webber hits the podium one more time. Hopefully they can bring down the Button era as we know it.
