Default What is considered a good tour for BD??

Now that Bd is preparing to tour Africa what is a considerd a good tour for our standard.

For example, to me good is a win in Nam and maybe a few wins in Zim considering our lossing pattern so far. Notices that Zim is just before us in ICC ratings.

your thoughts??

Winning all matches in Namibia and drawing 1 among the 2 tests NOT courtesy of rain or time loss for any reason and a win in the 5 match ODI series against Zimbabwe. And the other matches in Zimbabwe has to be competitive, not some 'same old' Bangladesh that we are used to (for example, the 1st ODI in Pakistan was a 'same old' Bangladesh when Pakistan scored 300 plus runs, or the 3 match one day series in Australia where only one batsman got close to an ODI fifty - 49 out by Alok Kapali).

Ok... here goes...

Although Zimbabwe is right above us in the ICC charts there is a gulf of difference between the two sides... We were hoping for a successful outing when BD showed a class outing against Paki and then a moderate outing against England... Then Zim was not doing really well... it was like oh hit 'em when they are down tactics... but it so happens that Zimbabwe's been playing freakin awesome lately... but i am not entirely sure if the VB series is a correct measure... everyone seems to be scoring runs there... all matches produced 250+ runs... weird... But still Zim is a good team and it will be hard to play them on their own gorund... but a good tour I wud say is atleast a draw in the test and a respectable losses in the ODIs... we are less likely to win matches this time... but if we do it will be a upset (I so hope that happens) and i will be one happy fan... and maybe finally I will get to change my sig...

I want a legitimate draw or better in tests.

At least one win in ODI.

As for Namibia, win all.

Namibia tour:
Win all.

Zim tour
For test:
One real draw.

For ODIs:
One victory.

I also want to see all the batsman improve their batting average.

Look at their line ups...flower, Taibu, Friend, Carlisle, Ervine, Streak, Ebrahim, Blgnaut all can bat...and they played superbly...so make sure guyz don hope too much..we might just be able to get a draw(if we all contribute and play exceptional games)

In addition, I'd like to think of the following as personal success against Zimbabwe (along the lines of Whatmore's thinking):

batting: consistency; several fifties and perhaps one test century

bowling: tight and controlled; perhaps 2 five-fors in tests

Going by Zimbabwe's recent performance I think they're going to be pretty riled up and confident against BD (regardless of WHY they achieved big scores in the VB series). Scoring 5+ an over against India and Australia is no small feat and

Given that, I think a good tour for BD would be winning all matches against Namibia and respectably loosing matches against Zimbabwe in both test and ODI. Make the Zimbabwans earn their victory!

You know, at first I was thinking (after reading all your posts) that may be draw in test and then a win in the ODIs, or just 1 win in the tests .....

But hey, isn't it what we really want:- "TRY YOUR BEST, GIVE YOUR HUNDRED PERCENT"?

Test and One Day cricket are differeant kinds of games. These performances doesn't mean they will do well in test cricket. Zimababwe are low in test cricket but good in ODIs. In fact this spirited fight in the VB series isn't unexpected. However tests are differeant all together.

Habibul Bashar said in today's Bangladesher Khela (and possibly in tomorrow's papers) that the Bangladesh team will try to beat Zimbabwe in at least 1 ODI, he didn't say anything about test win or draw.

Out of all the players above only Streak is pretty consistent and Flower is semi consistent. So we should beat them in both tests and win at least 3 ODIs

No more excuses should be tolerated if they can't win at least one test. They have been nurtured by a bunch of coaches. They have had enough practice before touring Zimbabwe. They have had enough experience gathered by playing enough matches both in test & odi version for the last 3/4 years against all these giants. What else does a test playing nation need to claim it's first ever test victory? This is the golden chance and they must do something in Zimbabwe.

They must win at least one test and one ODI, or they should never show their face to millions of fans!

No it's not too much to ask. Not at all. We have coached and played enough cricket to beat Jimbabwe.
The problem is not the skill or experience. The problem is our mindset. Our players or in fact the whole nation for that matter is too negative.
We just have to learn how to stand with our heads high and say "Yes. We are going there to win."
Trust me until we can say that confidently and lose even before the game - we will not be successful.

Default We are setting our standards too low

Anything short of romping home against the Namibians is a failure. The victories need to be comprehensive. I'm talking about winning by 5 or more wickets, or by 50 or more runs.

Against Zimbabwe: Crush 'em in tests, and crush 'em in the ODIs. Annihilate them. Show them who's boss. Kick them around a bit. Massive amounts of sledging (it's character-building). In short, kick some A$$. We need to get off that darned bottom rung in tests and ODIs. I'm sick of it. And I'm sick of hearing about it from airhead Pakistanis and Indians. We've gotta bust some balls out there this time.
