It's like a Keyword to bind common things, it's for twitter. It's how trending topics are formed. Trending Topics are what a good majority of Tweeters are tweeting.

Heres a few examples of Hashtags

#LastTimeCavsWon and than you'd write your thoughts with that hashtag somewhere in your tweet.

Amar'e is beasting #Knicks

Tendulkar Out #banglatigers

Go on google if you don't have a twitter and type in random hashtags and than on the left of your search results click on realtime
