The summer heat getting to you? Or just the "new thread" button was calling
Just a question,
Do we put domestic cricket stuff or Intl stuff here?

there is a section called "Bangladesh cricket". and all related threads go there. I know you are trying to be funny, but someone opened a similar thread before and I just don't understand why we have to make fun of a good initiative to make this forum clean and less confusing. The "Everything about..." threads are working. every one of them has more posts than those stupoid threads that used be opened for the same player.

I agree with the consolidation of the worship/hatred threads but the call for merging threads (for example news on upcoming tours) has gotten a bit ridiculous.
Not everybody wants to search through a long thread to find some helpful information. If the information is noteworthy or the poster feels they have something important to share that should be read and analyzed, I have no problem of it being a new thread as the first post.

If it's info about a player, i.e. ranking change, injury etc etc...isn't it the easiest way to find the info to just go to the player's thread and read the latest posts? For example, u r wondering If mash is healing as expected...just go to his thread and you'll find the info rather than having to wonder whic of Mash's several threads the info will be on
But i agree with u on noteworthy news about the team in general. Those whould have their own threads.

For me noteworthy news, a commentary/opinion piece (more than a couple of sentences) have every right to be its own thread.
But yes, one liners have no business being their own threads

Ok, Spitty, your thread is the winner of the most ridiculous www.banglacricket.com thread of the day. Happy now?

I propose this thread for "the most ridiculous www.banglacricket.com thread of the year" award.

For the satirically challenged, Spitty's thread is an commentary on the current state of the BC discussion threads where we now have a sudden spate of everything about everything about someone threads.
Other than the one liner deprecations, this post has brought about some good thoughts. Of course, they are good since I agree with them - e.g. Raynman. If the topic is specific enough, I would say it warrants a new thread else we can have the hero-worshipping or the reverse all going to one catch-all dev/null.
IMNSHO, for example, if we were discussing Mash's keen surgery or a change to his bowling style, I would prefer two different threads. That way the discussion can be cohesive and cogent. Look at the state of the "Breaking new-thread" - it started off as a means to collect all news regarding the BDR mutiny and now has become the catch all of all news Bangladeshi. It does not allow for a long and involved discussion on what might be a topic of interest to folks. Before things can start, some other topic just drowns any emerging discussions on previous topics.
All in all - we (mods) should be a little bit more circumspect when we start to yield the merge thread wand.

for the uninitiated. IMNSHO in Dr Z's post refers to : In My Nri Shongsho Humble Opinion.
-------
I have a question and since it's quite tangential to this discussion I am posting it here. What's BC's policy on blogging threads? I am not gonna names but me included we have started our own threads where we seem to create our own room in BC.

I knew this is coming...I'm sick and tired of too much 'everything' thread.
Even Dollar Mahmud got one!

I suggest
1. Open another last thread "Official Everything Thread about Everything".
2. Collapse all forums ( Bangladesh cricket, Internation cricket, forget cricket, etc) into just one with "Anything Forum'
3. Disable "New Thread" button so that no one can open any more new threads.
That will solve all the problem that is bothering some of the "Official Thread..." creators.
