Your ODI Squad for NZ Series
I am assuming Tamim, Ashraful, Rokibul, Sakib, Mushfiq, Razzak, Mashrafe, Shahadat, and Rasel (provided they are all fully fit) are sure selections this time. So this poll is to select six other players, from the preliminary squad, to complete the ODI squad.

Okay I see it now.
I was looking at the poll question but not the opening post.
His name along with Shahadat are somehow missing in the poll question.
My Picks:
Nafis Iqbal - Should be given a chance in the last ODI if Junaed fails in the first 2.
Junaed Siddique - Should be out of the team if he fails this time.
Nayeem Islam - He could come to bat at 5/6 if Raqibul is not fit yet.
Mahbub Alam -
Nazmul Hossain
Mahmudullah Riyad - He should be in the main eleven in all 3 matches no matter what. He's a good batsmen and a handy off-spinner.

Tushar Imran for ODIs? I think he can be in the Test team as he seemed to do well in the FC matches than the List As. He could come to after Raqibul at 4.

My six picks - Zunaed, Imrul, Riad, Enamul, Dollar, and Mahbub.
I am willing to stick with Zunaed for little bit longer, but, if he keeps failing, we may have to bring in Imrul sooner or later (I don't consider Nafees Iqbal an option for ODI). So I think Imrul should be brought in the squad from this series, although I like to see Zunaed making him sit in the bench for the whole series.
Riad is now very close to be a core player, should be a sure selection.
Although Enamul so far failed to show any potential for ODIs, I still would put him ahead of Shuvo to be the back up spinner in the squad.
Mahbub and Dollar - I like to see them being nurtured during this series. I also like to see them sitting in the bench for the whole series provided Mashrafe, Shahadat, and Rasel stay fit.

I had listed them in the core, but those two names (Shahadat and Rasel) got cut off when I posted the poll.

I am not very keen to introduce young players like Imrul Kayes or Shamsur Rahman against New Zealand. They are bright prospects and want to nurture them for another couple of years, it is tad early for them. IMO, Tushar has the potential to be a good middle order batsman which he showed in A team matches. I want to give him anoother opportunity.

If we are to pick a back up middle order batsman, I would pick Mehrab ahead of Tushar, Naeem, or Rajin.

I think players like Mehrab and Riad should be half a mile away from the national team.. They need to prove more to be included in the national team. As much as I like Riad for his non-flambouyant style of batting, he just isnt doing enough with his bowling to convince a #6 inclusion. For the sake of sanity,, please select players based on recent performance..

Recent or past, there is no stat to justify Tushar's recall to the squad.
Mehrab and Riad are technically much better batsmen than Tushar or Rajin is. Those two (Mehrab, Riad) are far better options to invest on for future.

My 6 will be
Imrul kayes
nayeem islam
Najmul hossain
shamsur rahman shuvo
mahmudullah riad
sohrawardi shuvo
I think these players are in form and still in touch with cricket and very much appropriate for ODI style and very mature compare to their age. i also believe this is the best time to reformat our ODI cricket style. for the test matches, i will surely pick a different combination

God we desperately need a GOOD off spinner in the side. Riad sucks to be honest. I found it hard to choose the sixth and final player because i was looking for one more spinner. Shuvo or Riad - I didn't want to put Shuvo in so early...trying to learn from past mistakes, hopefully BCB follows, and Riad was just a poor all rounder. Hence, I went for an extra batsman - Naeem. I was hesitant though...don't want to ruin his career either.
So final 6:
Zunaed Siddique
Nafees Iqbal
Rajin Saleh
Enamul Haque jnr.
Nazmul Hossain
Naeem Islam

BD pool so small and given their inconsistency and inexperience ... it is useless to choose one's squad for every series.

My 14 member team for ODI
7 core players +
Nafees Iqbal
Zunaed Siddique
Tushar Imran
Mahmudullah Riad
Shahadat Hossain
Syed Russell (if not fit then Nazmul Hossain/Mahbubul Alam )
Nazmul Hossain/Mahbubul Alam/Enamul Haq jr.
Tempted to include Nayeem Islam in place of Tushar Imran, but decide against it as i thought it would be a bit early. Lets give Tushar another try in the home condition at No. 6. And the decision of including on extra spinner (Enamul jr. ) depends on the game plane/pitch condition. I would go for Enamul jr. and plan according to it as Nazmul hossains pace bowling will not make much difference. So, if Russell is not fit then go for all-out spin attack and plan/make pitch according to it.

Funny to see Mushfiq as a core player. If giving blind chance is the motto of the selectors, I would better go for Sagir, because Mushfiq is already a failure.
Rokibul is still not a core player; but I like his attitude and will keep him in the team. Ashraful, without the captaincy is a better choice. Recently, he is talking (lies) like a horrible BD politician and that is killing his cricket.

Eshen,
Good thread!! I would like to know what you think of Nazmul? I saw you choosing Dolar and Alam ahead of him. I thought he performed decent against the Aussies.
Miraz,
I am with you on Imrul and Samsur Rahman not exposing them against NZ and nurture them a little longer. On the same token can we not give Nayeem another year of A team practice? I would think that would bring consistantcy in selection policy.
As for my selections:
Riad (should be core)
Nafis Iqbal (Nostalgic)
Zunaid (Test practice)
Enam Jr. (Push Abdur Razzak)
Nazmul (He had done nothing wrong to lose his place)
Now this the tricky part
Mehrab Jr. (middle order - Good fielder, would give you 4/5 overs if you need them in the middle and Shahadat is having a bad day)
Tushar would be okay also. Reason being if Ash can hold #3 then Tushar can hold #15.

IMHO I find Nazmul a pretty talentless bowler. He didn't do anything wrong but I don't see him becoming a succesful test bowler in his career. I would put him in the same bracket as Tapash, Talha, Tareq. On the other hand I think with some application Dollar can be a handy prospect in the future. Can't comment on Robin though although he seems to be doing well in Sri Lanka.
